dafman: Today I pulled the pin and ordered a black Z2. Should arrive in next few days - can't wait. It took me a long time to decide between flagships, in the end the Z2 won out with its bigger battery and great camera. The Z2 is also the closest to stock android. My last phone was a Nexus 5 which I loved, except for battery life.

I really wanted to like the HTC M8 ... but I couldn't look past its poor camera (HTC must be kicking themselves for sticking with the same camera - it will be costing them dearly).

And the S5. It just looks cheap and boring ... and touchwiz is still too much over stock android.

So ... my first question ... anyone using the Sony flip case? I don't want to add any bulk to an already large phone, but this looks like it is minimal bulk?

Yes I use the flip case. It's very thin, doesn't really add much. Not sure how thick the magnet charging case will be, but I'd go for that if it's just as thin.

Ok, thanks all, think I am sold on the case. I got a vodafone Z2 with magnetic dock, so don't need charging case. I wouldn't mind a spare dock ... but $70 is a lot for a little bit of plastic!

What's your experience with battery? I'm a moderate user and am hoping for a full days use on a single charge. Achievable?

I can usually see through the day and be left with 60-70% charge left with moderate use.  Larger use might get down to 40-50%.

Magnetic charging docks $40 on trade me :)

I'll be over the moon if I get that battery life!! My N5 usually died by early evening (my temporary S2 dies by lunchtime).

I picked up a Z2 Monday and quite impressed still getting use to it after using a Samsung for many years,

What is up with the head phones that come with the handset? They are crap

Battery life is great so far

I can have as much as 70% battery left after some days' usage. On a more typical, slightly heavier usage day, I usually have 50% battery left by bedtime. I typically charge mine every second night which is pretty great for such a large screened, powerful device!

I am now the proud owner of a genuine Sony flip case for a Z2. Now I just need the courier to arrive with my new shiny piece of kit!

My baby has arrived. What a beautiful piece of kit! Why anyone would pay the same $ for the plastic S5 is beyond me. Great to see Sony pack a micro USB to USB cable in box as well. Currently undergoing the obligatory initial charge ... can I resist playing with it? The magnetic charging dock is a god-send - but how Sony can possibly get away charging $70 for it is beyond me - it's a matchbox sized piece of plastic!!

This may be obvious to some but not to me. It appears that when you start the camera using the dedicated camera button, it tends to auto close after like 30 or 40 seconds. When the camera is opened via the camera app icon, then it stays on. This is the same with 4 units I've seen. My 4k video recording got the error message at 7 min. Not to bad, still love my z2!

Ok, A couple of days in I'm loving the phone. Taking a while to get used to the weight though. Dang, it's a heavy beast. Need to go back to the gym!

I'd say that's intended. The camera button could be accidentally pressed in your pocket so an automatic shut-off is probably quite a good idea.

They don't include a USB OTG cable however, which I think is what they are referring to.
