NikT: FYI for those considering the 5X - it only supports the Spark/Skinny half of band 28.

To those in the know: can someone please confirm whether this still applies to all 5Xs sold in New Zealand?

With the 5X currently at $499 at NL plus with 4x Flybuys today, it's a tempting deal, but its site makes no specific mention of supported frequencies (or carriers). I'd rather purchase a device that supported all of band 28, given we live in the provinces... it's surprising how many phones don't!

Thanks for any advice.

Brought myself a n5x off eBay for $350 16gb version. What a phone for the price so speedy with stock Android i was concerned at first about the 2gb of ram but after using this for a week my reservations have completely disappeared.

Hi everyone, this is more an android question than a question relating to the phone, but is 16GB enough for the 5X? I currently have a 16GB iPhone 5S, but I haven't been an android phone user for over 2 years and so I have no idea how much space the more recent versions of android take up. The 32GB version isn't much more expensive anyway, but any input would be appreciated.

I think that 16gb is too small.  Especially if you have something like Spotify with offline play (downloaded songs).  I upgraded from the Nexus 5 16GB and was for the last few months of its use getting warnings/requests for the storage being full.

Sweet, I'll definitely buy the 32GB then.

I find 16gb fine but then again I don't use my phone for music or any large apps.

Bought a 5X towards the beginning of the year as my N5 went bonkers and no amount of factory resetting, etc would fix it.

Anyway, love the phone but the fingerprint scanner seems to have recently given up the ghost :( For a while it was intermittent in recognising my fingers, then started giving messages saying the fingerprint hardware wasnt available or something like that. Now it just doesn't work at all. Was possibly after an Android update but not too sure as it was a gradual issue.

Looks like plenty of peeps online have had similar issues, has anyone here?

EDIT: Just checked and the fingerprint options have also disappeared from security settings menu...

Been using nougat since DP3, everything is all good. Fingerprint scanner working fine and had the phone a few months now.

No bugs that impact my daily usage so uh everything is fine I guess.

The only thing I don't rate is my reception dropping for far longer than my wife's 1st gen moto g (both on 2degrees) when we get the train to Wellington. I might be better off switching to spark but I haven't read up on the bands and such.

Have also noticed battery life reduced in the last few weeks. Might coincide with installing snapchat (a known battery sucker). Haven't tried getting rid of that yet but setting a task killer to auto and installing a battery saver app has helped somewhat

Thinking about getting the 32GB version. Is the lack of SD Card storage a worry?

How much space will Android 7 take up?
