Yes. On toms guide battery test S22 Ultra = 10 hours 18 mins, S21 Ultra = 11 Hours 25 mins

Few people commenting because the s pen charges inside the phone it draws a lot of battery

I can live with it not being worse than my Note20, but better would be better :)

It's a super capacitor inside the s-pen not a battery, it holds the tiniest amount of charge. That's a redundant argument due to lack of understanding.

brownie112: The early battery concerns have been cleared out already and recent battery tests shows base S22 very similar to iphone 13 Pro battery life under exact same usage. (Pro max obviously has longer life).

Links please. I have been looking for battery tests and found that there are not that many for the standard S22, of the ones I have seen they don't point to the S22 as being anywhere near a 13 Pro in terms of battery life. Would really appreciate a link to the tests you are referring too.

Not just the s-pen. Probably also pre-release software.

There are so many variables when it comes to battery life testing and also everyone does it differently. There is no way to accurately gauge it except real world use and real world reviews + people actually using it.

So far I've only seen 1 reviewer kill the S22 Ultra before the day was over and that was with some seriously heavy camera usage.

I think soggychups' concerns regarding battery life are valid, early reports and tests seem to indicate that the S22 will not be a great battery life performer.

also 4nm SoC doesn't automatically mean it will be more efficient across the board in every scenario because there are situations where it won't be. According to Dave2D, under light use it is more efficient but under load it is less efficient. Granted most of us probably use our phones under light loads the majority of the time but not everyone so YMMV.

I am guessing soggychups isn't a heavy user for having a S10e? In which case the S22 battery should be fine.

Gonna point out that 7 hours is fine for most people because most people are charging their phones every night(I actually can get 2 days out of my current device with my current usage, but ALL of my phones(except that S20+ with it's awful Exynos 990) could do 2 days at least with the iPhone 12 going into day 3 until lunch time.

I think we're grasping at straws. Yes it's not as efficient and the 8 gen 1 in most phones has also proven to be less efficient. It's never going to beat Apple's silicon and that's a literal fact.

Fixed my post but I agree, it's just hard to work out proportions(I had to download the image to figure out it's resolution and then downscale it with math, maybe this could be automated @freitasm). My apologies!

There is an automated limit on the number of posts that can be included in a quote. But it still should be checked by the poster before posting - the most annoying one is when somone is tagged in a post, and then everyone quotes that. The person tagged gets notified as many times as the post is quoted. Argh!

People here seem to be way too interested in battery life. These things never marry up to reality, it all depends on your usage habits. Battery has never been an issue for me on any of the last few years of devices since I have wireless chargers everywhere I might be located. So it just sits there passively charging when I'm not using it. Pretty much any time I get up to go somewhere it's at 100%, and then there's the power bank that lives in my bag for those days where I'm away from power for more than 12 hours. Which admittedly is never, but the option is there.

You'll all be a lot happier if you just ignore the minutae of battery specs and just play with the phone when it arrives to see how it suits your habits.

Final Results:

S22 - 5:50
iPhone 13 Pro - 5:51
S22U - 6:27
S22+ - 6:35
iPhone 13 Pro Max - 6:55

Obviously the standby drain is proven to be much better in the iPhones thanks to the amazing optimisation but for heavy users and for people that want to actually use the phone and not worry about clocking the highest SOT imho the battery life isn't too bad.

Have you tested your battery health what it is currently after 3 years?

We have 3 x S series phones in the family and 2 iphones and all 3 S series tend to lose about 5-10% battery health/year depending on your charging/discharging habits.

iPhones also does that but to a smaller extent.

The phones have a 2 year warranty (including battery)

The service centers have the ability to factually see current battery capacity.
If it stops lasting get a new one put in under warranty. Not really an issue.

Maybe? However we may not be talking the same language. often when we talk about a heavy user we mean they spend a lot of time on their phones but I'm talking about heavy loads on the SoC not time spent on the device. For example, playing a demanding 3D game puts a heavier load or demand on the SoC than say web browsing does. Again, according to Dave2D, SD 8 gen 1 is less efficient under heavy loads but more efficient under light loads - he's referring to the load or demand placed on the SoC. So if you spend 2hrs a day playing that demanding 3D game then you will possibly see worse battery life when compared with an older gen phone playing the same game because the SD8 gen 1 is "less efficient under heavy loads", but if you spend 6hrs web surfing then you may see better battery life compared to an older gen phone under the same usage because the SD8 gen 1 is "more efficient under light loads". So if soggychups mostly does light loads like web browsing then yeah he probably will be fine, but if the majority of his usage is playing a demanding game then he may see worse battery life.
