There's Omega which I have had used on S2 any other thoughts

MurrayM: I've just noticed on the 2 Degrees version that the internet browser comes with two bookmarks already added: 2 Degrees and Yahoo.  Neither can be deleted.

Interesting thing though - if you use another carrier's SIM card those bookmarks remain but are inactive. Seems they must be tied somehow to the SIM card.

On the 2Degrees network the browser defaults to their custom page. I've tried everything to set a different home page but the damned thing keeps reverting back to that stupid 2Degrees page. Installing a different browser just to avoid their bookmarks is annoying but it does the job until I can find better reasons to root the phone.

defragger: I have one of those cheapish Mercury cases from NL, but am finding it quite slippery in my hand.
Any recommendations for some nice durable cases that have a bit of a grip? Also owners of the Samsung Flip cases, how are you finding it? Does the case have a good feel to it grip wise?

Also if one was to buy one of these, would you still recommend a screen protector or is the screen cover enough. The only reason I would have a screen protector is to protect the phone in my pocket or bag. I have those Xtreme Guard protectors but they look pretty average. Haven't put it on yet though.

For the case, it depends on what protection you need. I'm also using one of those Mercury cases at the moment, as a temporary case until the Otterbox Commuter series cases are released. I've used those cases on my HTC Desire & Desire HD, and also on my SGS2 and am sold on them. My phones get thrown in a bag and have to be able to withstand having keys and other potentially-damaging things in with them. So far (touching wood as I type) none of them have had a mark on them.

The Otterboxes are due out within the next couple of weeks.

Those Otterboxes look mint. Where will you be sourcing yours from?

EDIT: Just bought 10 screen protectors off Ebay.

I love Ebay :D

Any recommendations for a flashlight app that uses the camera flash and can be dimmed up and down or even just allows 2 or 3 levels of brightness?

TIA

Depends on who gets them in first and on availability of shipping to NZ. I've noticed in the past that Otterbox themselves seem to be among the last to offer their cases for sale from their site. I'm watching out on Amazon.com and on clove.co.uk.
This is the one I want: OtterBox 77-21390 Commuter Series - Night Sky

I've seen this case here which I'm thinking to get. Looks to be similar to the OtterBox & Casemate Tough ones.

There is already an app for flashlight within the S3 stockROM.

Scroll down to widgets and locate "Light Assist". Put the widget on screen and you have a torch.
Man! I don't even have my S3 and yet I know it more than you do lol.

I'm waiting on 2 Otterbox cases myself. Gone for the glacier (white) and an atomic (green). Getting through Harvey Normans, No one else other than Telecom seems stock them, and I'm not about to pay their prices! Just waiting on stock to arrive via NZ supplier Cellnet. Got my S2 Otterbox through them, very good cases if you don't mind the extra bulk but extra protection is worth it, especially when you accidentally "drop test" down a flight of stairs.

Doesn't have brightness settings you want, but I prefer to use Widgetsoid for that and have a flashlight toggle in my notification pull down (along with a bunch of others, like a shortcut to call my fiance, turn on WiFi tether, manually control brightness and all the different volumes etc).

Can't seem to locate this widget. Does it allow levels of brightness for the camera flash? I had an app on the HTC Desire which allowed three levels of brightness...

Thanks for that, I will check it out. I've actually installed half a dozen flashlight apps but none of them meet my requirements.

The widget is black rectangle shape. Well I don't think the LED can be changed brightness. Only HTC has the level LED controller. I might have to cook one up
