chovik: I am having trouble using Samsung Dive re "track my Mobile"
Everytime I try the "Track my Mobile" feature I just get the fail message
I think I have entered the correct number using international dialing code and also I have activated my google and samsumg account on my phone...is there something else that I should be doing..ie have I left a step out?

Suggest you try Cerberus, much better app for mobile security.

,

or you could try Prey.

More a general thing than a specific SIII thing but was buying my daughter some smiggles stuff and i picked up a stylus pen, they are about $16 but ironically a very nice match for the marble white SIII, it is a ballpoint pen in gloss white and chrome accents with a capacitive tip on the end, if you are in the market for such accessory it is well worth the spend imho

I got my dark grey Rock case, and Samsung desktop dock, in the mail today. I really like the case. It's the first case i've ever used on a phone and am more than happy. I have quite dry skin so the extra grip is excellent. It fits the phone perfectly, doesn't add much bulk and has a slightly raised lip around the edge so I can place the phone face-down and not have the glass touch the surface.

The dock is nice enough too. It fits the phone with the case installed which is great considering the S2 desktop dock barely fit the old phone with a skin on it.

Does anyone have a 2D rom link to help me remove root? I'm having issues with 3g connectivity and want to make sure it's the phone before returning it. Virtual beers and karma are the price I'll pay...

To remove root is to do a factory reset.
Keep an eye out for sammobile site.

You'll need to do more than removing root for warranty purposes.

System Settings > About Device > Device Status - scroll to the bottom, you'll see that it labels your phone "modified".  That's because of root.

According to Chainfire, you're going to have to flash a stock ROM in order to remove that status.  Triangle Away wont do the job, it will only reset the flash count.

And there's no 2D stock ROM on SamFirmware.  I keep checking.  I've got to take mine back this weekend for exchange.

I'm going to flash the Vodafone Stock Firmware, it's the best I can do.  But it wont give me the 2D CSC.

Lokhor kindly sent me some instructions for extracting the CSC but I've not looked at this thoroughly.  I will say it involves a lot of steps, and preferably another S3 on 2D you can grab stuff from.

Neets:

You can write a flash able zip to remove cwm and super user.

Factory reset will remove root kernel but not cwm and super user. And you can't really replace csc without rooting your device lol because it buried inside System Root. So either way having CSC is just as good as nothing without root.

Prey is free for up to three devices. Luckily I haven't had to really 'put it to the test'.

On a related note, here's a blog post from someone who lost their iPhone and their experience tracking it down with Find My Friends, interesting read: http://www.teamdf.com/blog/lost-found-my-iphone/169/

Alternatively to get the firmware you wanted then you can try using CheckFus.

Looking at Play Store, Cerberus appears to be free now?

I can categorically confirm that factory reset does not remove root. I've done it twice now to my phone in an attempt to track my problem down.

So far it appears that when I restart the phone Mobile Data stops working until I toggle airplane mode on and off. It will work again after that.

I have a couple of friends with 2D S3's, how hard would it be for one of them to extract their stock rom for me to use?
