Thank you Mauricio for the system info.
Interestingly it was the Build Number at the bottom I was interested in.
On the latest 2.3.7 [6.0.B.3.162] build some people have reported signal drops and etc.

I just about snorted coffee out my nose when I saw the sign of the Anti-Christ[McAfee] on your phone.

I hope that's a carrier addition and not a global Sony initiative .

Can it be removed or is it a system app?

Is it a running service, even when you haven't configured it? (applications -> running services)

If it's a system app, someone, somewhere, must be building a hardened bunker preparing for the backlash.

God (or Deity of choice) bless XDA developers and flashtool I say.

I removed about 35 system applications off my X10i after rooting it and now have ⅓ of my RAM back and a little bit more battery time.

I guess now with more RAM(1GB) comes more bloatware.

Anyway, I'm still thinking an XPERIA P would be a good second phone at a good price point unless a Sony XPERIA ion HSPA pops up.

On the other hand some users do need protection because they are stupid enough to install anything. Exactly like some desktop users.

I was offered an update to 6.0.B.3.162 but I can't download it neither over WiFi or 3G:

Sadly this is true. At least you were able to easily remove it.

I have just removed McAfee now, no problem.

Thanks for the build ID as it helps to understand battery life and etc.

Ok, I probably shouldn't have been so vocal about McAfee without knowing the facts and considering common courtesy .

I can't install McAfee on my test box to test it, but NQ Mobile Security, Avast and Lookout all detect a test virus I have which is more than they did last year. So one guesses that McAfee would have the same level of competence as the others.

Given that McAfee can be removed for another app if required I think its a good option to have on the XPERIA P and helps the beginner.

Sony XPERIA P Dock

Does the preview extend to the bespoke 'dock' for the XPERIA P?

1xHDMI, 2xUSB and Power input

Could be a nice touch plugged into a 40" TV with a logitech Unifying Mouse/Keyboard and maybe an external USB thumb drive if the power management is within scoop.

From the information I have to hand it does not appear that the Sony XPERIA P supports GLONASS satellites positioning.

This means the Sony XPERIA P is relying on GPS only.

Therefore the location of the device may not reflect the more exact positioning of a device with both GPS and GLONASS.
By using both GPS and GLONASS a device is effectively doubling the potential number of satellites available on which to plot a position.

Support for both GPS and GLONASS may be a reflection on the chipset being used. Many XPERIA models use the Snapdragon Qualcomm chipset (S2, S3 and S4) which do support both GPS and GLONASS.

The NovaThor™ U8500 in the XPERIA P does not appear to have this dual satellite support.

Hi Maurico,

Have you still got this phone? Hows it going?
I got myself an Xperia S (from the Sony Shop). Great phone, still learning to drive....
Just figured out that the 'backlight' option sucks the juice.

-Love the notification bar (pull down).
-Not so impressed with the distorted FM radio. Im wondering if its an issue with factory headfones or the FM tuner itself. Otherwise audio from the media folder plays smooth and clear.
