Just received a Sony Xperia P here. First impressions: good traditional looking phone, nice finish, except the bottom plastic bit. Interesting thing about the three buttons at the bottom being on transparent plastic - see through the phone to your hand!

Easy access to microSIM card. Quadband HSDPA - will use on my Telecom account.

Haven't started using it yet as it had very low battery, probably used before by another reviewer. Charging now.

Be very interested to know what you get from a single battery charge time wise.
I just see a bit of conflict in a 4" screen and only a 1305mAh battery.

Also interested in what the Mali-400MP GPU can do using a Nenamark2 score.

I wonder if it's a 395MHz or a lower spec'd Maili-400MP GPU.

I had the Xperia U until today with the same chipset and performance was equivalent to the OMAP 4430 and Qualcomm whateversinthesensation

Thank you Mauricio, that's given me an idea of what the Sony XPERIA P is capable of.

Not quite in the league of a Samsung Galaxy S II, but still quite a usable mid-range phone (with NFC and HDMI).

I know someone who has an Sony XPERIA U with 1305mAh battery and it's not even lasting a day for them.
Display turned down, time-out at 1 minute and WiFi and Bluetooth off, not sure what they have running in the background though.

Be interesting to run those same tests when one upgrades to ICS 4.0.4.

I'm guessing one has the 'original' firmware(6.0.B.1.564) as I believe there is a firmware upgrade(6.0.B.3.162), even though the OS version remains at Gingerbread 2.3.7. Probably just a prep for ICS

Try taking any photos using the camera flash. They are so washed out and terrible - I returned this phone.

I've been using one for a couple of months now.
I like the physical size, the screen clarity is great
I've been having pretty good battery life ... 3 days between charges with medium usage... (3G/WiFi continually on, no bluetooth)
Will be good to hear your views...

Battery life was about three days with cellular off and WiFi on. Used it today with my own microSIM, Exchange push email enabled, Twitter updates enabled and what else... Currently 11 hours and 18 minutes on battery and battery indicator still almost full. Quite impressive.

The back is plastic and I'd like to see a metal cover instead. The screen is pretty clear and the handset is overall very responsive.

I really like the looks of the new Sony range, was tempted to buy an Xperia U but lack of micro SD card slot rules it out for me

I thought the XPERIA P was a aluminium unibody construct. Plastic you say???

Does that means you have access to the battery as one does on the XPERIA U?

My XPERIA X10i has a plastic back with soft touch coating and feels 'Gud'. So, I don't mind plastic if it doesn't look or feel cheap.

I see Mugen have released a 1500mAh battery for the XPERIA U to replace the 1300mAh original.
If one has access to the battery on the XPERIA P could the same be used in that as well.
It's mooted to give an extra 16% on a charge than the original.

What firmware is the XPERIA P running? Maybe a pretty picture of 'About Phone' page. Gosh, aren't we the demanding ones.

The back is metal but not unibody. The bottom (below the transparent strip, with the XPERIA logo) is plastic and removable - I guess to replace with a telco's logo if needed.
