Viber: @stevenz -
What exactly do you mean by the "inactive user" notification?

For users who installed Viber once 6 months ago and haven't used it since, they still show as a regular Viber contact but if I send them something, it disappears into a black hole. Some sort of icon or way to differentiate in an obvious way between active users and someone who hasn't logged into Viber in months would be nice.

Thanks for the clarification.
In general, Viber should auto-deactivate users who have been inactive for 45 days. Meaning, if your friends's Viber account really was out of action (completely) for 45 days, it would have stopped appearing as a Viber user automatically. Have you made 100% sure those users stopped using their Viber?

I know until fairly recently I had some people who hadn't used it in a fair while. Looking at it now I can't easily identify when they last used it so possibly they have now been de-listed.

45 days is still a fair while, it would be it easier to rely upon if the period was reduced to a week or so (even if via a user-configurable time period).

The most obvious competition, Whatsapp, seems to leave people on there indefinitely and you have to open the contact to see when they were "last seen" which is annoying.

The "last seen" feature is something we are considering to add to Viber, but at this stage we still don't know when/if it will become reality.

Meanwhile, we invite you to enter our Feature Request page and post your suggestion there, or join an existing similar suggestion. The more people join on a request, the faster it will become reality :)

You can find it here: http://helpme.viber.com/index.php/Knowledgebase/Article/View/43/9/have-an-idea-for-a-new-feature
