up to about 800 ish... surf web skype use as portable movie player when away from home or at home lol basically daughter wants to use my laptop more and more so was thinking cheap latop for her or maybe a new toy for me liked what i have seen online of tablets apps something diff to what i have want to basically be able to do what i do now with laptop but diff if that makes sense also e books would be cool as well
I had a play with the new Galaxy Note 2 in the weekend and it was very nice to use and seemed a lot better than the Galaxy Tab. Pricing is very good as well if you don't want 3G
As second poster said if you want to do a lot of typing then get a laptop.
I've just bought an Asus Infinity TF700 and I want to marry my tablet - it's awesome, comes bundled with a keyboard/mobile dock so you can fold it up like a notebook, which gives extra screen protection.
Basic specs: Android 4.0, Super IPS+ Panel with 178degree viewing angle and outdoor settings, Quad core processor, Gorilla Glass, 64GB SSD, Wi-Fi, GPS, Sonic Master sound system, battery life up to 9.5hours, 2mp Front and 8MP Rear facing cameras, USB slot, SSD slot - my mission tonight is to see if I can set up a virtual machine on it.
Only potential negative is that there's no SIM slot. This doesn't bother me as I use wi-fi and skype to call people whilst travelling so have no requirement for it to be a phone as well.
Addendum to above: the Asus Transformer Infinity with a keyboard will set you back around $1400, if you aren't fussed about having the latest and greatest Android version, and can cope with a 32GB SSD, then Noel Leeming are selling the Asus Transformer Prime bundled with the keyboard for $850 - at least, the one at Wairau Park was when I was in there on Tuesday.
If you can wait till October 26th then you will find a much wider range of tablets available in the NZ market. Windows 8 will officially launch in NZ with many tablets, hybrids, ultrabooks and AIO's..
i can wait lol 1400 for the infinity sounds bit much not a lot of diff between the 2 i dont think... t300 i mean better glasss and veiwng angles etc 600 quite alot more does get awesome reveiws though might wait till oct 26 ... c what that brings enjoying the feedback from you guys many thanks
Quite a bit of diff between the Transformer Prime and Transformer Infinity, though the 32GB Infinity is only $699 a bit closer in price to the old Transformer Prime, but for the $1399 version you get better GPS, twice the hard drive 64GB SSD instead of 32GB, higher pixel density (224ppi instead of 149ppi), scratch resistant gorilla glass, Super IPS+, 12-core GPU (instead of 416MHz GeForce), 1600MHz quad core (T300 is 1200MHz), 1920x1200 resolution instead of 1280x800, HTML5 support, video calling and a built in front facing camera, plus it's a little bit lighter. Just one or two extras.
