opinion will vary but as nakedmolerat says they aren't great if you do a lot of typing.

You really need to think about what you want to do with it as that will lead you to what suits your requirements.

things to think about

screen size
external memory card
3G or just wifi
cost
upgrade ability, some manufacturers are very slow if at all with some Chinese ones.
Support, buying from overseas can be cheaper but doesn't have CGA or manufacturers support

the list is longer but may pay to go to a shop and have a play so you know what they can do.

Can't go wrong with the t300 tbh, especially if it is packaged with the keyboard and reasonably priced

Sounds like you need to do more research as to what a tablet actually is/does before you look at buying one.

i had the original iPad (got it on the 2nd day they were available) sold it a few weeks before ipad3/new ipad came out. i hated browsing the net on it for extended periods of time, always pulled out my laptop do do that. in the end i only used it for reading comics and playing a few games.

so personally i would wait for the windows 8 hybrid tablets (ones where you can connect/disconnect a keyboard so they can turn into ultrabooks). then you have both a laptop/ultrabook and a tablet. there are plenty coming out soon, but no prices really mentioned yet, should be lots around christmas time.

just my 2cents.

I know this is posted in Android forum, but +1 from me for the iPad. Excellent piece of kit, obviously integrates well with other Apple products if you have them (iTunes) and 'just works' as mentioned before.

All have their limitations. Identify what you want to do with it and go into the shops and have a play.

Asus Transformer. Excellent unit, hdmi out, micro sd storage expansion, hundreds of thousands of apps and it just works.
Dont have to convert movies to special format. I just connect by usb to computer, drag and drop files across just like hard drive. Easy to use around 9 hours battery life and more if you use the dock.

When windows 8 comes out there should be a lot of new ones come out, including I guess the microsoft surface. It maybe worth waiting. But I think the ipad is still the best at the moment in terms of relibility, value and form factor and build quality (all glass and metal). But like smart phones, I am sure they will be overtaken.

It really depends on how much you have budgeted for yourself. Myself being an Apple addict I wouldn't go anything other than an Ipad :)

However lately I have been following reviews of the various Andriod tablets; the new Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is quite decent; however if you wish to get started without spending too much, the Google Nexus 7 is definitely good value for your money

Take a look at this review:

without wanting to be accused of trolling maybe you could give some more details on what you want it to do and the amount you are prepared to pay otherwise it may end up apple v android discussion.

You have as yet to state what you want to be able to do with it so not easy for anyone to advise.

All the high end tablets and Ipads have a lot going for them but also differences that suit one but not others.

Have the tf300 here. Love it now it has jellybean. Use it for netflix, just setup a VPN on the device and attach to TV via hdmi.
Standard usb port on the keyboard is great too.
