If you want a watch to look like a watch then round is pretty well the norm. If you have a smart watch what shape should it be!  doesn't matter as long as its functional and not to over the top.

How it looks is entirely subjective so if you are buying on looks alone then take your pick there are a lot on the market.

If you are looking for functionality then these two watches are different given one can be used as a stand alone phone.

Yes the Moto 360 looks like a conventional watch as its round and some would say its nice looking (so is the LG watch) but being round it has its draw backs at the moment as most apps are set up for square/rectangular screens.

Battery life with the 360 with a screen always on will always be an issue but its inconvenient to have to lift arm a certain way to switch watch on in the case of Samsung.

The firmware android/tizen isn't an issue really but would depend on what you want to do, if its notifications then all is fine with either, I only use my watch for notifications, time etc and the phone if I need to ring but do find the ability to use watch in car as phone very useful (mine doesn't have a sim)

Once again it gets down to what suits the individual not what others think is best

Absolutely couldn't agree more however it was asked what our opinions are on both.

To me it sounds like everyone in the thread has given something for people to think about.

markfitzgibbonz: I have ordered black. I have also already downloaded apps and have bookmarked all the guide and tips etc.
Just missing the actual watch! Was so hopeful it would be available on 13th like the post eluded to. Oh well.
I have a Pebble (Kickstarter model). Love it. But the Moto 360 is colour, has a HRM and runs Android Wear.
So Pebble will be relocated to right wrist with Fitbit Flex. cool
If only I could get my hands on Google Glass as well....

Slight side-step on the thread and I know it's not what you have mentioned, but have you considered the Gear Live? I upgraded to this from the Gear Fit, and I love it.

Hey sdavisnz, are you still getting the Gear S? Wondering if you know anything about when they'll be in NZ. Ordered one a couple days ago when I noticed they were on the NL site.

500 bucks. Not as bad as I thought it might be. Particularly since the g watch r is only 20 less. Quite like to see one on my wrist to check out the size, so I wonder when they will be in NL stores. Point is a bit moot though since Samsung persists with its Samsung only connectivity policy.

Yep, I was pleasantly surprised at the $499 price tag. Considering I was prepared to pay $600+ once stock was on handtec.

And I agree, it's bit of a lame move to restrict it to Samsung devices.

I feel NL should promote the fact they're the only retailer (or digi importer for that matter) that is selling the Gear S.

Funnily enough I was in NL Wairau about half an hour ago. No one knew anything about them. Looked on the computer, looked out the back because the computer said there was one, nothing. Glad I didn't make a special trip to look.

Thanks for the offer but I'm back home now.
As much as anything I wanted to see how big it looked on my wrist. I've got a feeling it will be too big. It may also lead me down the road where I have to get an S6 or Note 4 to get the most out of it.. I wish Samsung would stop trying to be an Asian Apple.
