Comparison to Google Maps: It can give you turn-by-turn voice guidance and navigation without having to have an active internet connection; can also give you public transport routes (not sure if available in NZ this feature..).

richms: Google offline is crap as I found out in china where there is no google without vpn and Internet is universally awful.

Here maps isn't going to help you out much with navigation in China in any form as it is an unsupported country (along with most of Asia).

hamish225: ooooh i hope they do this for iphone, i loved it on my windows phone, but i gave that up for my iphone thank you telecom :)

Here maps has been on iPhone for at least a couple of years.
I'm not sure its as full featured as this release, don't remember it having voice-turn-by-turn directions.

I had a quick play with it last night and was looking at the navigation options. It told me I could walk from Lower Hutt into Wellington via the Eastbourne Ferry (which supposedly sailed at midnight). Me thinks there are a few flaws with their data!

Try turning the map to landscape. Only Drive goes landscape.

And that's why I won't be using HERE just yet. When the phone is mounted in the car the app must run in landscape. Searching for destinations is ugly when the app is locked in portrait.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Only clicking to landscape in driving mode or while navigation is active for me. Can't see why it shouldn't just allow landscape when the app is first opened.

I can't login to download maps or voices. Sign in via Facebook? Failed because my email isn't verified, yeah right nokia, that's a new one. Then set up a nokia account and that fails too. Sigh. I do like it when things work.
