try this one its only 4.4.4 but will be very good, if you want 5.1.1 you will need to flash new bootloader and modem through Odin. The dev's have stopped development but has a ton of features including note 4 features

How confident are you that if I carry out the steps in my first post that it will load?
From CM v11 to the rom you mentioned. I ask because I don't see anywhere online where people are flashing in such a way

if ODIN is not recognising your phone it means it doesn't have the drivers.

install the whole kies package.

it's impossible to brick a samsung with the old bootloader (which I believe the note 2 has ... note 1 definitely ... but not sure of note 2, never had Notes)

sorry not sure what CM does to your note 2 bootloader.

anyway, have you reinstalled kies and drivers package? try Odin again. try other USB ports.

yeah i've installed kies 3 and tried again. Com 3 comes up and the message box says added, but nothing in the top left square, ever.

I'll try the next version down of kies.

when you use USB cable can you explore the phones SD card? if not then its drivers not odin. Changing odin version won't change whether it see's device or not
