why do you want the latest update anyway its not that much different. I flashed stock from Sammobile and haven't seen any difference. If you really want the android experience go try custom Rom's, if its quick updates you will be sadly disappointed with Android

DarrenJ:
Coming from iOS, when Apple releases and update, there is no drama in getting it.  So what's the story with Android?

A quick Google search and a few hours of reading will answer that question.

I think it's more I'm concerned that I can't get updates as they are released, and no-one (Samsung or Spark) are saying who's responsibility it is for it to be released.

Not too keen on the custom ROM path.  Too worried about bricking the device and voiding warranty.

ricking phone is quire difficult unless you don't follow instructions.

John answered that before, it is Samsung whom release them once telco's have checked them out.

Have to sat Samsung is very slow at the moment but believe thats more to do with issues with 5.1.1.

Android takes longer to learn because there is more that you can change .

as an aside, I think its quite difficult for someone to change OS's as you get used to the environment, I'd find IOS quite boring but thats my opinion as I'm sure IOS peeps find Android frustrating.

DarrenJ: I'm new to the Android world, so coming from an iOS background.
I purchased an S6 Edge, and I'm slowly learning about Android.   Once thing I have read is the latest software is 5.1.1 and that was released in June.
My mobile is running 5.0.2 and when I do a software check OTA, it tells me nothing new is available.

I tried asking Spark online chat, and they got Mobile Faults to call me, who said it wasn't their issue and then put me through to Samsung, who said it's not their issue and it's Sparks. I asked Spark again and they said it's Samsung's issue, and then finished with "not released in NZ".

Coming from iOS, when Apple releases and update, there is no drama in getting it.  So what's the story with Android?

If you wanted the same experience you should of gotten a Nexus phone, Samsung is a poor example of Android, if that. You will have to wait and hope the update ever gets released, otherwise put on a custom room such as Cyanogenmod.

bradstewart:
Athlonite: Apparently the 5.1.1 update had a serious bug in it when installed on the S6 /S6 edge so they have pulled the update for now until it's fixed

Hadn't heard that, I know of a few people who got the OTA on their devices and haven't had any issues.

I saw an article on Neowin

Unless you buy a nexus device then updates are pretty much as soon as they're available
