meeekael: Bahah my deliberating burnt me.

Got quoted a week ago for 1079 at Noel Leeming with defence discount...didn't preorder it then...

Entered the 2degrees code into an order but then didn't check out, invalidated the code so now it doesn't work anymore...

Went back to Noel Leeming and the defence discount no longer changes the price.

Lol should have just pre ordered when I had the chance!

Will hopefully pick one up in Australia in 2 weeks...

Unless someone has a 2degrees code they didn't use and would kindly send my way...?

I just ordered mine from Noel Lemming for $1031. They had a cost + 7.5% deal on the counter. Not sure if it was for that store only (Invercargill) or not.

nathan:
lagbort: Now to find a source of USB-C cables to replace all my Micro USB ones...

be careful, most of the USB-C cables I have tested do not meet the specs

some of them are so bad, they can fry your USB host (ie PC) when you plug them in

Thanks for the heads-up Nathan.  Is this likely to be an issue with my Kanex USB-A to USB-C cables that I just purchased from Elive?:
http://www.elive.co.nz/kanex-1m-usbc-usba-ku3ca111m-cable.php

I'm only using them for charging, and a couple of instances of charging the 6P since yesterday seems to have them working "OK" in that role - but would they be an issue if I needed to connect to a PC do you know?  Thanks.

No problem laughing. Just sitting around in Opua waiting for my knee to improve so we can carry on hiking down the North Island.  A lovely new phone (arrived yesterday) and a few jobs to do help fill the day!!!

I really don't know about the Kanex cables sorry.  I just know that because USB-C is so new, a lot of manufacturers have rushed out cables that do not conform to the specs

these are 2 that I know work fine and won't risk damaging your PC

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WJSPFOW

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010VFFU1W

all the others I tested available from Amazon did not conform to the specs - they did not comply with the USB Type-C specification version 1.1. The documentation can be found at usb.org under developers/usbtypec

Thanks - I guess I'll keep an eye on developments before I launch into buying too many more cables.

I checked the mall today for cases, screen protectors and skins. Nothing on sale at the moment. The word is stock will arrive in 2 weeks or so. Don't know what to do in the mean time...

Picked up my pre-ordered Nexus 6P from Warehouse Stationery today! I have a tempered glass screen protector shipping from overseas, but that won't be here for another week. Too paranoid to use it screen protector-less, so does anyone know where to get a basic screen protector from? Just for the time being.

This thing is absolutely gorgeous. I am so chuffed with it.

On the case front, when I first got my Nexus 5 I had a case and it was fantastic. I will probably pick up a spigen one.

Alrighty. Really enjoying using the phone, I thought it would be too big, it probably is for me, but it feels fine, if that makes sense.

However..

1: How are people getting these amazing photos? I took a picture from my HTC M7 and the 6P, both pictures looked exactly the same, the HTC even had more light in the picture. Dear I say the M7 even looked better...

2: Probably more of an Android OS question, but how can I get my Windowslive Email set up? When I go through the Gmail app (Maybe using Gmail is the problem...?), it says it cant find the server. Should I just download the official Microsoft one? Or is there a better 3rd Party Mail app?

3: I had trouble setting up the fingerprint scanner, anybody else. I moved my finger around like it said, and it either said I moved it away too fast, or I needed to place a different bit of my finger on, which I was doing. Took me about 40-50 seconds all up. I have seen unboxing videos with people taking 10-15 seconds.

4: Speakers are AMAZING. I was going to test with my HTC M7 but I can already tell they are much better. If they aren't louder, the definitely seem louder. You can also notice the depth of sound when watching something. I just tried the Batman Vs Superman Trailer and it sounded amazing.

I'm interested to know more about the camera. Any photos you can uploaded side by side with HTC? This is my sticking point as Samsung is known to have better camera but their storage offering is small for my need.

A few sites think the camera is on par with iphone 6s and note 5 although 6P appears to struggle in every low light tests.

I have seen low liight pictures and still thought they were pretty good. I'll take some pictures tomorrow for comparison

Preordered through Warehouse Stationery but it seems they didn't have enough stock. Apparently the next shipment is mid to late December but have been given a really good discount.
