I installed Resurrection Remix, a CM13 Android 6.0.x ROM. So far so good, I can make calls, Samsung Health works for pedometer and steps. Android 6 seems pretty fast, faster than Android 4 on the same hardware. There's a lot more customisation possible. All in all, a good move I think - so far.

Ok sooooo, nothing on TV so tonight is the night I dive in the deep end abd I am going to have a go at this.

Will report back to see if I am successful. (never done any of this before)

And done, pfft ok was a lot easier than I thought. Installed twrp booted into recovery installed rom and gapps and reboot and done.

Now S4 is on 6.01 and all appears to be working well. Its now got a later rom on it than my S6

Yeah, it mostly works, and is easy to install. Give it a few days, see if you get the thing where outgoing phone calls have no sound, reboots, missing SIM card, etc. Android 6 seemed fine, though I think Android 4 did what I wanted just fine, maybe better.

Yeah , I have the stock rom if I need to go back. I was getting the sim not installed fault before the upgrade so nothing new there. Nice to have a play.

Interested how it goes, and if it goes well your modem and such version. I just found it unreliable so I went back to the TouchWiz based 5.01 ROM.

Its not my daily driver my S6 is , it was sitting there doing nothing so was nice to have play around with it. Might throw my sim from the 6 into it and use it for a week to see how it goes.

Installed the update to the rom this morning and all is well, I tried using this as my daily driver for the last 2 weeks (poor old S6 is sitting there) and have had no issue. In fact I really like it.

Are you using a nightly or the release?

I am using a release (ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.6.7-20160409-jfltexx) , to be honest it feels just as quick as my S6 but with a lot more options that don't seem to be on my S6 ( running 6.0).

Okay I might give that a go, I was using regular CM from the CM website and its a bit slow etc :) Long live the S4!

How's battery?

What version of baseband and everything are you on? Did you post that already?

You have OE4, I have PA1. Maybe the older one is better for Android 6. You have a newer kernel too, I'm on 3.4.0, but that's because I'm on Android 5 right now I guess.

The kernel comes with the rom (but you can change it)
