And what else stops working when you delete a samsung app???

My mrs is always complaining about something because we've disabled some samsung stuff.

Reason I love my Sony.

Stu: The issue isn't really what you can do once you have root access. The issue is that you need root access to get rid of useless, unwanted, space wasting rubbish in the first place. Premium products at premium prices should be free from bloatware.

Yep, this is why I would not go back to Samsung until they stop filling their machines with junk one does not have the right to remove from the device one has paid a lot  of money for.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

The other issue with root is some banking apps... ANZ in Oz won't cover you if you're running on a rooted phone.

I have removed Facebook and Messenger completely, I am using the browser based mobile app which is just as good and has push notifications if you browse the app, saves size and clean the cache monthly to free up data.

I went into Settings -> Applications -> Application Manager and wiped all the data for the Facebook app.

I then "disabled" it.

The phone asked if i wanted to replace it with the factory reset version. Yes.

It then reported the app as "uninstalled" and the space occupied was now shown as "00.0 B of internal storage".

Maybe you can actually 'uninstall' bloatware on the SGS7.

I disabled it on mine, Storage usage says 0b, whereas Hearthstone is happily using 2.73GB :)

I've still got 15GB free not counting whatever is left on the 64GB MicroSD card, so not fussed.

I'm surprised that Spark persist with the Yahoo T!World rebranding of the browser.

On the note 5 the icon for Facebook was on the phone but when you clicked on it it was just a short cut to the Samsung app store listing for it.

I was just going through my SGS7 and moving whatever apps i can to the 128GB Micro-SD card.

I hit "F" in the list....and found that Facebook is 242MB + 23MB of data and it can't be moved anywhere or uninstalled because it's part of Samsung's preloaded software.

Fark.....

I may look at rooting this phone sooner rather than later if space becomes an issue.

Thank you for yet ANOTHER reason to NOT be anywhere near Facebook!

Download (you'll need to sideload) Facebook lite.

Does everything Good the Facebook app does, and none of the bad stuff.  Even has the messenger with push messages integrated into it.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

If it makes you feel any better the app has the same issues on iOS. In some ways it's helpfull as the large cache saves data when on a mobile network, is it not?

Spotify is the other app that builds a huge cache.

For bloatware perspective, windows 98 was 130mb.

I just checked out of curiosity, and on my iPhone it's consuming 650Mb.

I can't say I'm surprised. Facebook is so buggy and poorly thought out, both on the app and the web interface.

I personally use Metal - works well for my needs. Don't need to have any of that Facebook crap :)
