Oi vey! What am I? A news service already?!
Hopefully. We're counting on you...
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
Done and done.

I've decided to get one off-contract.
I'll run it for a year and see how I get on (will be my first Android phone ever). I would have liked the blue colour but for some odd reason you can only get black in NZ. Must be a Wellington thing...!
Since I won't be under contract (although still remaining with VF) I will be free to decide if the iPhone 8 or Note 8 tickle my fancy next year. I ordered it this morning from Noel Leeming (who are the cheapest if you have a Farmlands account) and they told me it could be the end of the month before they get it.
how much did the xz cost you? I have seen one in person today at sony store and i liked it. I am torn between xz and pixel.i have to decide by the end of this week
PM'd you.
thanks :)
Thanks.

I do find it odd that today is the 'launch date' in NZ and yet no one seems to have any stock...!!
Just remember people, labour weekend sales, Noels is normally good at the 20% off.

Even on something just launched and not even in stock yet?!

Yes have done it before, however these days they are more clued up and having things like "20% of sony tv's" rather than 20% off sony.
Just might pay to wait.

Well, I'll be waiting anyway since they have no stock!
The sales guy wanted to charge my card today and I said no, otherwise if it takes 6 weeks to turn up I will have paid for it 6 weeks early!!
Can't wait to meet the XZ in person. I went to Spark in Lambton Quay yesterday but they didn't have on display, but they had price sticker up for $1,099.
Sadly only window shopping as can't justify getting the cost of swapping out of a S7 quite yet.
I am sure the XZ is using quick charge 3 so will leave this here
you will need to youshop it, however it ends up being about $21NZ + youshop fees

Won't cause your battery to catch fire, I hope...!

@nikt what are your current top choices for flagship devices?
Mmm, lots of choice right now, although most are 'coming very soon'. Will try not to get too far off-topic - there will of course be a fair few folks eyeing all the new phones post Note7. The XZ is a worthy contender, and hilariously the first thing I thought of when seeing the Note7 in person was the Xperia XA/XA Ultra, which look practically identical to the Note... Sony's still got design on their side. XZ is beautiful. Reminds me of the best Lumia design with a nice metallic Sony spin on it.
Disclaimer: My preference is for 6" these days, with 5.5" being a bare minimum, so I don't look at smaller devices with personal use in mind.
If you don't need band 28, the OnePlus 3 is an easy recommendation.
If you want something from telco-land, iPhone 7/Plus and S7/edge are fine, although the former isn't tremendously groundbreaking (Headphone jack aside) & the latter is somewhat old news. Huawei's P9 and P9 Plus can be had for very reasonable dollars now, and have extremely good processors. The only other contender really is the XZ.
Outside of telco-land:
LG V20 is coming next month. Pixels are coming next week. Huawei Mate 9 presumably isn't far off. None will be cheap, all will be good.
From left-field, the ASUS ZenFone 3 range in regular flavour 5.2", premium 5.7", and enormous 6.8" are shockingly well built - and support both band 28 and Dual-SIM 3G (For 2x Spark/Skinny SIMs or any combo of NZ telcos).
The HTC 10 is very good too, it's a shame HTC is essentially dead in NZ. Glad Sony isn't. We need more of what the telcos call 'Challenger Share'.
No matter which flagship folks choose this quarter, there's lots to like. Hanging out for the Mate 9 myself.
Hi Nik. I see you have the 16 Gig Moto G4 plus in stock . Are you going to get the 32 Gig version??

Mate, I suspect you're the one of the only people in NZ who cares about the Moto G4.
I initially advised against ranging it because it's not well differentiated vs. competition in the price bracket. It's in range because the local Moto distributor brought it in and we figured hey why not. Incidentally, that's also why it's $499 - can't control the local pricing.
If the local outfit offers the 32GB, then maybe - but we can bring in pretty much anything as a special order. Drop a line to procurement@pbtech.co.nz.
To bring this full circle and back on topic, that goes for the XZ Dual SIM as well!
