Not through traditional channels usually, parallel importers should get it. I'm eying Expansys.

Out of interest why don't we usually get them? Even if they were special order?

Annoying we aren't getting that nice blue color.

XZ to be a Spark/Sony Store exclusive to the best of my knowledge. Stunning design. If there was a 5.5" or 6" variant, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.

Not officially. Telcos in NZ won't touch Dual-SIM. Can't blame them, why would they subsidise hardware which fundamentally undermines their business model?

Of note - the Dual-SIM XZ, like the X and XP before it, will support 3G on the second SIM slot for 2x Spark/Skinny SIMs (Or any combo of any NZ telcos). Unfortunately Sony NZ is not particularly interested in bringing the Dual-SIM variants in for open market sale, I've asked them ~3 times this year.

Mmm, lots of choice right now, although most are 'coming very soon'. Will try not to get too far off-topic - there will of course be a fair few folks eyeing all the new phones post Note7. The XZ is a worthy contender, and hilariously the first thing I thought of when seeing the Note7 in person was the Xperia XA/XA Ultra, which look practically identical to the Note... Sony's still got design on their side. XZ is beautiful. Reminds me of the best Lumia design with a nice metallic Sony spin on it.

Disclaimer: My preference is for 6" these days, with 5.5" being a bare minimum, so I don't look at smaller devices with personal use in mind.

If you don't need band 28, the OnePlus 3 is an easy recommendation.

If you want something from telco-land, iPhone 7/Plus and S7/edge are fine, although the former isn't tremendously groundbreaking (Headphone jack aside) & the latter is somewhat old news. Huawei's P9 and P9 Plus can be had for very reasonable dollars now, and have extremely good processors. The only other contender really is the XZ.

Outside of telco-land:

LG V20 is coming next month. Pixels are coming next week. Huawei Mate 9 presumably isn't far off. None will be cheap, all will be good.

From left-field, the ASUS ZenFone 3 range in regular flavour 5.2", premium 5.7", and enormous 6.8" are shockingly well built - and support both band 28 and Dual-SIM 3G (For 2x Spark/Skinny SIMs or any combo of NZ telcos).

The HTC 10 is very good too, it's a shame HTC is essentially dead in NZ. Glad Sony isn't. We need more of what the telcos call 'Challenger Share'.

No matter which flagship folks choose this quarter, there's lots to like. Hanging out for the Mate 9 myself.

Typically speaking the dual SIM variants of most recent Sony phones (Z3 and Z5 are two examples) don't support all the NZ LTE bands. The Xperia X Performance did but wasn't carried here, I suspect the fact the actual X Performance itself was overpriced by about 25% in the first place in NZ meant there would have been no demand for something even more expensive. it did do dual 3G standby though which meant it was one of the first phones on the market to support this.

I've decided to get one off-contract.

I'll run it for a year and see how I get on (will be my first Android phone ever). I would have liked the blue colour but for some odd reason you can only get black in NZ. Must be a Wellington thing...! surprised

Since I won't be under contract (although still remaining with VF) I will be free to decide if the iPhone 8 or Note 8 tickle my fancy next year. I ordered it this morning from Noel Leeming (who are the cheapest if you have a Farmlands account) and they told me it could be the end of the month before they get it.
