If you want the most 'iPhone like' experience with Android get a Galaxy S7/S7edge or wait for the S8. It's fast, Good battery the display is amazing and accessory wise because it's a Galaxy S there's heaps of them.

If anyone wants an "iPhone like" experience, for this price you better get an iPhone.

I really rate my LG v20. I wouldn't consider a phone that didn't have 1440P now. The new Sony flagship looks amazing. The Mate 9 Pro I'd also imagine as very good, based on specification.

The S8 looks ok, though I'd probably wait for the note 8 or maybe I might get both! :)

I was an iPhone owner from the 3GS through all iterations to the 7 Plus and decided to go to droid. In the last 6 months I have owned a Nexus 6P and a Galaxy S7 Edge and now have a Pixel XL which is fantastic and if you are used to paying Apple prices, is not that expensive really. Personally, I wouldn't go for anything that does not get OS updates as they are released which I think pretty much limits you to Nexus and Google branded phones.

Agree, get the Pixel. 6P is a really nice phone too if they are still around. My opinion would be you will have a much better experience with a closer to, or completely stock Android phone when coming from iPhone. OnePlus 3 if its closer to your budget.

Oneplus 3 is excellent except for the camera. It's OK but nowhere near an iPhone camera. The finger print reader is like lightning - so fast.

OnePlus 3T.

The only thing it doesn't support is the 700Mhz LTE band (LTE Band 28).

But it has 6Gb of RAM so it's fast. Super fast. And the camera isn't too bad either.

Avoid anything made by Huawei like the plague, unless you like horrid, buggy software.

They're ~$650.

If you want the best Android phone available, look at the Pixel. But be prepared to take out an iPhone sized bank loan. And you can't get them in NZ officially, so the whole warranty thing is a bit of an unknown.

Also, avoid anything Samsung make like the mega-plague. Their software is buggy, horrid, terrible and when they DO update it for you, it's even more horrid terrible and buggy. Give me a Huawei anyday over a Samsung. Ugh. Will never understand people that buy Samsung phones. Great hardware. Hilarious software.

I'd say anything close to an iPhone would be Sony Xperia XZ/X Compact or Google Pixel. Sony Xperia fits into the Apple ecosystem with itunes and photos import/export on mac. Don't even bother with Samsung no matter how much they are advertised or sell, their phones are utter trash for the software UI experience alone.

Gotta pull you up on this. Its hideous software. There's nothing funny about it. Its a real shame, cause they have awesome hardware then go and ruin it all. Wouldn't go back to Samsung (for anything not just phones to be honest).

Having gone stock Android (with the Nexus 5x from 16ish months ago) I dont think I'd go back to non-stock. Its a shame how much manufactures ruin it.

I tried something a little different this time, sick of Samsung's and iPhones getting more and more overpriced so I went with an ASUS, I've had great experience with their motherboards and GPUs etc. so thought I'd give it a go and its been awesome!!!

$340 and it comes with a 2.3Ghz Quad Core Intel Processor 4GB of RAM and 64GB of Storage with a sharp 5.5" screen there is nothing I want, that it can't do. its a powerhouse without the gimmicky things a lot of phones come out with these days.

I also brought it from this site and had zero troubles with the process

Mine is actually silver, I brought the gold one for my wife.

They have newer more powerful models if you have a bigger budget

I thought I might be moving downmarket when I bought a Huawei P9+ after having to give back two Samsung Note7's - but I am extremely happy with the phone. Sure it might be better if/when Vodafone release Nougat upgrade for it but even now it does everything I want and need and does it well.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I have been wanting a new phone to replace my Nexus 6 which for some reason is getting sluggish, even after a factory reset.

I wanted a Pixel XL but they are too expensive so I went for a Moto Z Droid which I got for US$360.

After nearly a week with my Pixel XL, i totally dont regret the cost, the only thing i wish is that i could of bought it direct from google and not having to go through PB Tech (and now that i have no doubt eventually google will be like HEY NZ YOU CAN BUY THE PIXEL FROM OUR STORE NOW!), granted i only got the 32gb version where i could of spent about $300 more and gotten the 128gb version i felt id be happy enough with the 32gb, I will miss expandable storage though :( but who knows i may learn the hard way on what to delete and what to store in the cloud...

Can I ask why you wish you didn't buy from PB Tech? I'm looking to buy a phone from there. Is their warranty sufficient? This phone is also missing band 28.

Since I have a friend coming to visit me from the US soon I looked at getting the Pixel XL directly from Google. But it said delivery in 4-5 weeks so that might have missed his travel window. I wish Google could get HTC to have better inventory management.

Currently using the Sony Z5 which I was really happy with until I bought my wife a Oneplus 3.

Now I'm really pissed, the Oneplus has better build quality (all metal),is much more responsive with 6 gig of ram vs 3,software(nougat with less bloatware and gets updated regularly) .

The camera is better in low light and is faster,battery life is better ,screen is larger and brighter even though the phone is roughly the same size.

The only area where the Sony betters the Oneplus is the sound is marginally better with front facing speakers.

Oh and the Oneplus was about $200 cheaper vs the Sony when new.

Having previously owned a Note, I wanted a Note 7 but they started exploding before I had a chance to obtain one. I was fortunate to be given a Huawei Nexus 6P and really like it. I do miss the stylus but the phone itself (being manufactured for Google) is very zippy and gets updates on a regular basis. No "horrid, buggy software" but probably because it's essentially a vanilla phone. I wouldn't go back to Samsung unless they dropped touchwiz, got rid of all the bloatware (there shouldn't be anything like that on a premium priced phone) and released regular updates.

SWMBO had a Sony Z1 which suddenly developed the worlds worst battery performance (couple of hours max) after a major update so she now has a Samsung S7 Edge. She loves it, and it takes outstanding (for a mobile phone) photo's.
