Had a iPhone 7 since launch. Want to try something new. What should I look at trying out. Huawei? S8? G6??? Not sure

Want a really big screen.

Really enjoying the Huawei Mate 9. Beautiful screen, great battery life and memory. Really fast too.

Looks really good. I like how they've stayed with 1080p and not gone over the top with 2/4k display. Whats the UI like? Looks a bit odd on the website.

looks odd not really, but it took bugger all to get used to. if your coming from IOS it should be pretty easy.

Wouldn't know. Just installed Microsoft Arrow launch a few weeks back. So many options for launchers that the discussion about this is moot.

Will be at the top of the list to have a look at. Might wait and see what the S8+ is like also.

I have been wanting a new phone to replace my Nexus 6 which for some reason is getting sluggish, even after a factory reset.

I wanted a Pixel XL but they are too expensive so I went for a Moto Z Droid which I got for US$360.

http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_z-8094.php

While this unit  is a Verizon branded phone  versus the Moto Z global model,  besides the CDMA bands for Verizon, it also has GSM and LTE which are completely unlocked. I got this on ebay (new) with a JBL speaker Moto Z mod (not sure I will use this) but I did purchase a Moto Z battery mod with NFC charging.

Being a US model I will get LTE on bands 3 and 7 for Vodafone but since my Nexus 6 was US only and had only bands 3 and 7 also and I never felt I was missing 4G I think I can cope.

I looked at the Huawei but I don't like their Android implementation and the Moto Z has close to native Android with some Motorola small mods.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

freitasm on the recent screen you used to be able to tap contact and then either phone or message with the arrow launcher, but after the latest update all that is offered is to delete, is this the same for you?

After nearly a week with my Pixel XL, i totally dont regret the cost, the only thing i wish is that i could of bought it direct from google and not having to go through PB Tech (and now that i have no doubt eventually google will be like HEY NZ YOU CAN BUY THE PIXEL FROM OUR STORE NOW!), granted i only got the 32gb version where i could of spent about $300 more and gotten the 128gb version i felt id be happy enough with the 32gb, I will miss expandable storage though :( but who knows i may learn the hard way on what to delete and what to store in the cloud...

I have a S7edge, and although it is easily the best phone I have used I really miss the screen size of my Nexus6. Having the edge has meant I had to dust off the tablet for some things again.

Can I ask why you wish you didn't buy from PB Tech? I'm looking to buy a phone from there. Is their warranty sufficient? This phone is also missing band 28.

If you want the most 'iPhone like' experience with Android get a Galaxy S7/S7edge or wait for the S8. It's fast, Good battery the display is amazing and accessory wise because it's a Galaxy S there's heaps of them.

I personally switched from an iPhone 6+ to a S7 Edge on launch day and it's been the best Android experience I've had spanning many brands / models. Touchwiz is much better than it has been on older phones but once you install a launcher (+1 for Arrow Launcher) it makes for the perfect experience.

That said, I'm planning on going back to an iPhone when this years model comes out as as much as I'm enjoying this phone a lot is said for iOS and it just working without needing any tweaking.

I love my LG G5 - can't beat it.

The G5 has reportedly had reliability issues, but the upcoming G6 looks even better and claims to have had reliability ramped up.

I find the Huawei P9 on Android 6 odd. Some apps won't show notifications, even after changing all the settings to allow them to. I had to get rid of Google Calendar and use a different calendar program, and it took quite a lot of tweaking to get my favorite reminders program to show notifications.

Apparently the Android 7 Huawei phones are less intrusive. That's been released for ages for the P9, but not in NZ yet.
