Hows that V8 going? Think my SU6 is telling me its time for it to depart this world, keen to understand if this performs similarly or faster than SU6

SD435 vs SD615 could go either way? :P

The V8 and N8 are pretty cool although I'd say the N8 is more for those who don't install too many apps (due to storage). Both pretty nice to hold and are fast. The fringerprint scanner works well for unlocking the screen and the N8 comes with built-in Parental Controls - you can limit time byt you can't manage from the web seeing their website is not available for New Zealand yet.

The V8 does come with Google Cardboard pre-installed too. And removing unwanted pre-installed apps is easy - none of that bloatware you find in more expensive smartphones (Samsung). Also the vanilla Mail application works well with Office 365, which for me is a good plus.

Overall very impressed.

It's (the N8) got an sd card slot right? Can you format it as internal storage? (Sorry can't remember the proper term for it!).

How laggy is the phone waking up to answer calls etc (biggest gripe with the mediatek'd SU7).

The new phones are ZTE and pretty fast to answer. You can't format SD as internal but you can install apps on that if you want - an Android thing.

Using the V8 this week. Installed 128 apps (from my Huawei phone backup account) and still have about 15GB free. You still need a microSD card but it's not bad. The N8 will certainly need a card if you have lots of apps installed.

What's the V8 camera like? Particularly low-light/fast moving. Can't find anything online.

They've sent out the press release today:

Featuring the latest Android Nougat operating system, the Vodafone Smart E8, Vodafone Smart N8 and Vodafone Smart V8 phones are tuned to work optimally with NZ’s leading mobile network - offering customers more speed and reliability.

Vodafone Consumer Director Matt Williams said, “Over 700,000 Vodafone smartphones have already been sold in New Zealand, which goes to show how well they work for people who just want to own a great smart phone that offers great value.”

The Vodafone Smart V8 has already won a 2017 World iF Design Award for its premium look and feel, underpinned by an elegant and durable full-metal casing. The combination of the Vodafone Smart V8’s powerful processor and NZ’s leading mobile network means that the Vodafone Smart V8 can stream media at speeds of up to 300 megabits per second (Mbps) over Vodafone’s 4G network*.

The Vodafone Smart V8 also has top of the range features like a fingerprint sensor, 5.5” Full HD screen with reinforced 2.5D Dragontrail glass, high spec 16 megapixel (MP) rear and 8MP front camera with dual flash and 3000 milliamp hour battery.

“The Vodafone Smart V8 promises to be one of the best smartphones released this year for people who want a great smartphone for using lots of data, but have a constrained budget. We believe this is the best value smart phone in New Zealand for under $400,” Matt said.

The Vodafone Smart N8 also won a 2017 World iF Design Award and is an ideal device for young adults or anyone in a family. The inclusion of a fingerprint sensor provides increased security and is also integrated with enhanced parental controls on the device.

The Vodafone Smart N8 is also great for those wanting to watch videos on the go, with a 5” screen, 16GB of available storage and great battery power.

The Vodafone Smart E8 is designed for prepaid customers and provides excellent value for money, particularly for those who have previously used 3G devices.

The Vodafone Smart E8 is a reliable device that provides a worry free experience and 8GB of available storage for photos.

The Vodafone Smart V8, Vodafone Smart N8 and Vodafone Smart E8 will be available from Vodafone New Zealand on July 15.

Prices

Vodafone Smart V8 $349

Vodafone Smart N8 $199 (To use with other networks a $30 unlock fee will apply. See vodafone.co.nz/unlock

Vodafone Smart E8 $129  (To use with other networks a $30 unlock fee will apply. See vodafone.co.nz/unlock

I definitely like the look of the Smart V8, it could be a good replacement for my Nexus 5X if it ever gets the bootloop problem.

My partner has a Vodafone smart ultra , she likes it apart from when you get a text and don't notice it , after a short period the flashing light goes away and no notification shows at the top of the screen .So she has to unlock the screen and check manually if she has recieved a text .

How does the  V8 respond ?

I assume you have the 7? There is a setting that can change this. I can't remember what it is but I remember changing it for my boss.
