Brought one of the 8GB Ram ones from PBTech yesterday loving the phone but man the USB charger that they do include is not a good choice. It's a Samsung Fast charge which looking on their site is $44 the stupid thing is that a cheaper one would actually give a quicker charge.

The one included can only do 5V 2A and 9v 1.67A(Which the OnePlus 5 cannot use) where as there are other ones they sell that will do 5v 2.4A for less money. Someone there brought into the Samsung marketing.

Yes, that was what I suggested to them i.e. they could have supplied the VOOC charger instead. I didn't know about the legal requirement to supply an NZ compatible plug. Ah, well, either way it's still inappropriate from a consumer marketing point of view to sell a phone with an advertised feature set which isn't supported by the substituted plug without specifically mentioning this. That way you can factor that into the price and make a considered call on advertised price/value. I guess it's a mute point seeing there should be AU/NZ compatible chargers available shortly anyway.

It will be interesting when OP start selling in AU later this month, that means the correct type of power plugs for NZ/AU (however you can buy the oppo VOOC charger from jbhifi nz which is the same as the dash charger).

Yes i have been using one for a few weeks, Oppo is the parent company of oneplus, the tech was first designed by Oppo and Oneplus started using it :)

About a month ago I took the plunge and bought a couple of OP5s from PB Tech and surprisingly, my world hasn't fallen to pieces. Absolutely no issues - so far. It's certainly better than my LG G4, but as with most new phones these days, we see incremental improvements rather than massive leaps.

It's pretty much as the reviews state, but some of my thoughts.

Pre purchase concerns:

Display. Going from 1440 x 2560 to 1080 x 1920 display. No problems, indeed the OP5 display is better than the LG G4. Good daylight visibility.
No external SD card. Turned out not to be an issue as the internal memory is more than enough (one is 64 GB, the other 128 GB). I used to remove the card and transfer data to and from the PC, but now just use Wi-Fi and FolderSync. It actually simplifies things as everything is in the one place.
No removable battery. Would really like this, but that field is pretty limited these days.

Pet likes.

Battery life. Typically 2-3 days compared to 1-2 days with the G4. Normally 5-6 hrs SOT per charge.
Dash charge. Brilliant, just plug it in over tea and you're done. All phones should be like this.
Updates. Two updates so far, but that is pretty standard with new to the market phones. Time will tell, but it should certainly be better than LG.

Pet dislikes.

Battery life - when using 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Typically drops to around 20 hours. Not an issue for me as I just changed the settings to force 2.4 GHz only. From the testing I've done, pretty sure it's the phone. As there seem to be lots of people with the issue, it's possibly a hardware thing - if it was software they should have it sorted by now.
It's too thin! Found it much easier to hold with a case on it and I don't have particularly large clumsy hands. Can’t really see the point of thin phones.
No NZ Dash charger provided. It would be nice to see PB Tech provide these and other Dash items. I ended up getting Oppo VOOC mains and car chargers from JB HiFi. (Yes they work fine, but come with a USB micro-B cable whereas the OP uses Type C.)
Dash USB Type C cable. Needs to be a Dash cable for the chargers to work properly. Other Type C cables don't work for the Dash charge and some don't work properly for data transfer. Yet another purchase, yet another cable.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.
