bradstewart:

You also get a bigger battery.

I am not sure that's the case, I think S9 this year has the same battery size as S8:

S8/S9 - 3000mAH

S8+/S9+ - 3500mAH

He was asking about the differences between S9 and S9+ (I think).

So it really is just size, battery, RAM and additional camera.

Noel Leemings preorder is up and it's bundled with a wireless charger and the Amazon Echo, be interesting to see what everyone else throws in with it.

Edit

PBtech doing Sennheiser headphones, wireless charger and a Gear VR headset

Harvey Norman just a wireless charger

I’ve been watching the developments of the S9 over the day.

I’m surprised by how much of a non-update it is with a price increase. But yet all the different companies enticing people to pre-order by giving away free stuff. Is this because these company’s realise its a more expensive product and by giving away free stuff they hope to entice those who may be on the fence about upgrading?

The wireless charger they're giving away is the same one that released with the S8 right?

PB have 3 different pre-order bundles (all also include wireless charger):

  • Gear VR with wireless controller & Sennheiser HD4.20s
  • DeX Pad Desktop Dock & 22" LED Business Monitor
  • UE Boom 2, SOL Republic Relays Sport wireless in-ear headphones & 10,000mAh power bank

I'm currently using a Xperia Z2 so looking to upgrade.  Thinking the JB pre-order sounds the best since I don't really need any of the other stuff

Would not a lot of this stuff be offered up by Samsung and not the stores themselves.

What the heck happened to phone subsidies?

When I bought my S6 on a $99 24 month plan I saved at least $600 off the RRP of the phone.

Unless I'm seeing things wrong none of the telcos are offering anything at all? The open term 22gb plan would get you the exact same as the 24 month 22gb plan but no contract and $20 cheaper per month. Why word you go on a plan if you had to pay RRP?

Not quite on topic but yesterday I spent some time looking for the first time at a Note 8 in a shop - what beautiful machine that is. Previously I had the ill-fated Note 7 and loved it during the short time I had it.

I have had an iPad for years and soon after the N7 I got my first MacBook. It was then only a short step to move wholly into the Apple ecosystem by getting an iPhone - after always having Android phones.

I do like the way my three Apple devices sync everything and I like the iPhone - up to a point - but it ain’t no Samsung. In my ideal world I would have a phone with the specs, form factor, screen, style and pizzazz of a Note 8 or the new S9+ but that would do the Apple stuff. Life is so unfair.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
