I don't think so but don't have the details yet, only the device. The announcement, including price and details will be next week.

First impressions before setup: a lot lighter than I thought and thinner too. Brilliant screen. Nice position for the on-screen fingerprint reader.

Photos I saw on laptop from the HMD person were stunning - Adobe Lightroom comes pre-installed. I have not setup the device yet so more to come.

HMD Global has announced local availability for the new Nokia 9 PureView, which features the world’s first five-camera array with ZEISS Optics, putting next generation computational imaging technology into the hands of photography enthusiasts. Every picture taken with the Nokia 9 PureView is HDR. All five cameras work together simultaneously to capture your image and Nokia 9 PureView fuses it together into one 12MP photo with outstanding dynamic range and unparalleled depth of field.

The Nokia 9 PureView features the world’s first five camera array system with ZEISS Optics. It has two colour sensors for accurate vibrant colour images and three monochromatic sensors which give sharpness and detail. All five sensors work together to collect up to 10-times the amount of light than a single sensori of the same type.

Every shot taken by the Nokia 9 PureView uses all five cameras to capture at least 60MP of imaging data. To process and fuse the images Nokia 9 PureView has maximised the heterogenous computing architecture of the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform assigning tasks across ISP, DSP, GPU and CPU. Featuring a dedicated imaging co-processor that individually adjusts exposure and white balance on each camera across the scene, the Nokia 9 PureView gives you a glimpse into the future of smartphone photography.

James Robinson, Country Manager, HMD Global said “Nokia smartphones have always pioneered imaging innovation and we are excited to take a significant leap forward with the Nokia 9 PureView, introducing New Zealanders to the most advanced computational imaging system on a smartphone. Designed for photography enthusiasts, the Nokia 9 PureView is the only smartphone to capture images simultaneously from all five lenses to give users an image capture so rich that post processing possibilities are endless. With powerful apps like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Google Photos depth editor right on the device, Kiwis can now capture and edit extraordinary images with the Nokia 9 PureView.”

Every image captured on the Nokia 9 PureView is HDR, with up to 12.4 stops of dynamic range and a full scene 12MP depth map. This means each 12MP JPG image benefits from outstanding detail in areas of both bright sunlight and shade.

The high-fidelity 12MP depth map created with each JPG enables Bokeh effects and provides the opportunity to use Google Photo’s built in depth editor. Now you can re-focus, adjust blur and saturation across the scene, even after you have captured the shot.

Designed with the needs of photography enthusiasts at its heart, Nokia 9 PureView also features the ability to capture images in uncompressed RAW “DNG” format and edit them directly on the phone yourself thanks to our partnership with Adobe Lightroom. It has been said that 50% of the art of photography is in post-production and with Nokia 9 PureView you have every opportunity to shine.

The Nokia 9 PureView features an update to our popular Pro Camera UI – delivering even more control over your photography. Now capture exciting time lapse photography with support for exposure times up to 10 seconds. In addition, the new Pro Camera UI on Nokia 9 PureView includes the ability to adjust the Exposure Value in increments of just 1/3rd of a stop, letting you adjust exposure compensation with more control than ever before.

The Nokia 9 PureView is packed with advanced technologies. Utilising heterogenous computing, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform intelligently splits imaging workloads across various technology cores. The Nokia 9 PureView also features a bright 5.99” 2K pOLED screen with PureDisplay technology and integrated Qi Wireless charging. The PureDisplay screen technology features HDR10 support letting you enjoy crisp details, great contrast and rich colours in supported content. The Nokia 9 PureView screen also features an integrated fingerprint sensor, with security features further complemented by advanced biometric face unlock technology.

To top off the flagship-level quality and attention to detail, the Nokia 9 PureView has a flawless finish that radiates the thoughtful design you expect of every Nokia smartphone. All five cameras are seamlessly integrated into the 8mm slim phone ensuring there is no camera bump. Be assured that the Nokia 9 PureView will get through the knocks and mishaps of real-life with a 6000 series aluminium chassis with our signature dual diamond cuts and the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back.

Pure, secure, and up-to-date, Android 9 Pie reinforced with Android One The Nokia 9 PureView launches with Android 9 Pie out of the box. It joins the comprehensive line-up of Nokia smartphones in the Android One family, which means it delivers the latest Android innovations and software experiences. Nokia smartphones with Android One offer great storage and battery life right out of the box and come with three years of monthly security patches and two major OS updates.

Android 9 Pie includes AI-powered features to make your device smarter, faster and adapt to your behaviour as you use it, so your smartphone experience gets better with time. The Adaptive Battery feature limits battery usage from apps you don’t use often, and App Actions predicts what you’re about to do so you can get to your next action quickly. These features further streamline your device’s functionality and your overall Android experience.

The Nokia 9 PureView will receive three years of monthly security patches and two major OS updates, as guaranteed in the Android One program. In addition, Google Play Protect scans over 50 billion apps per day to keep your phone safe from malware, making the Nokia 9 PureView among the most secure phones on the market. It also comes with easy access to helpful innovative services including the Google Assistant, which helps you get things done throughout the day, as well as Google Photos with free unlimited high-quality photo storage.

Spark’s Mobile Lead, Renee Mateparae, said this is Spark’s second year exclusively carrying Nokia smartphones in New Zealand and they are performing well in market.

“Kiwis have a soft spot for Nokia and their latest offering, the Nokia 9 PureView, does not disappoint. Every aspect of our important moments can be captured. With its five cameras working perfectly together, each photo picks up exquisite detail - from the tone of the sunset to the clear image of a car zooming past - the Nokia 9 PureView misses nothing,” said Renee.

The company is also launching the new Nokia True Wireless Earbuds, with a RRP of $199. Weighing a slight five grams per earbud, the Nokia True Wireless Earbuds provide clear audio playback and voice calls with up to 3.5 hours play time. They give fans the freedom to charge on the move with a pocketable charging case holding three charges (giving you a total of up to 16 hours of quality audio entertainment including the charging case power).

The Nokia 9 PureView in Midnight Blue is the latest addition to a range of new Nokia smartphones now running Android, including the recently released Nokia 8.1. The Nokia 9 PureView in Midnight Blue is available in New Zealand from Tuesday 7 May at Spark, Skinny and Harvey Norman with a suggested RRP of $1,049. Those who ot for a $59.99 and above open term Spark Pay Monthly will get a bonus True Wireless Earbuds (worth $199) plus a $201 off RRP over 24 months.

The Nokia 9 PureView is the world’s first five camera array smartphone and has been used to bring out the unique personalities of the #ForgottenDogsOfInstagram through the power of photography.

HMD Global has today announced a unique partnership with a group of photographers and animal shelters to help rehome dogs in need, through a series of exceptional photographs taken with the new Nokia 9 PureView.

New Zealand is a nation obsessed with man’s best friend, however not all dogs will be lucky enough to have a loving family this winter. HMD Global’s partnership with animal shelters and photographers aims to help these forgotten dogs by capturing the hearts of their future owners through a series of thought provoking and emotive images, using the world’s first 5 camera array smartphone.

Claire Thornton from HUHA - Helping You Help Animals shelter in Otaki - commented how important photography is for animals in need; “Capturing a great image of a dog looking for a new home can really help make a huge difference to finding them a family” said Claire.

“With thousands of dogs in shelters across New Zealand, we’re thrilled that HMD Global is helping us raise awareness of animals in desperate need. We’re hopeful that these stunning shots, which showcase each of the dog’s unique personalities, will do exactly that for Lilly, Cookie, Benji, Blossom and Ruby, as well as other forgotten dogs looking for their forever home.”

HMD Global has appointed a Dog Squad of photographers across New Zealand and Australia, to ensure that the #ForgottenDogsofInstagram will finally be given the profile shot they deserve.

James Robinson, Country Manager – ANZ at HMD Global commented: “Whilst dogs might be one of the most adorable photography subjects, they certainly aren’t the easiest to take. That’s why we’re so proud to be working with the team at Helping You Help Animals and further animal shelters, to use the photography power of the new Nokia 9 PureView to help capture shots of dogs in need that are looking for their forever home.

“Every picture taken with the Nokia 9 PureView is HDR and all five cameras work together simultaneously to capture the image with outstanding dynamic range and unparalleled depth of field, offering the perfect smartphone for photography enthusiasts across New Zealand.”

The Nokia 9 PureView device features two colour sensors for accurate vibrant colour images and three monochromatic sensors which give sharpness and detail; meaning no moment (or dog) will ever be forgotten again. All five sensors work together to collect up to 10-times the amount of light than a single sensor of the same type.

Dogs featured within the #ForgottenDogsofInstagram image series are looking for a new home. HMD Global has also released a short film following the story of the ‘Dog Squad’ and the very special photoshoot they coordinated with four dogs. The film is available to view on Nokia Mobile’s Facebook page.

Nice phone.  Pity Nokia phones released here are only single SIM models.

I've read a few reviews of the 9 Pureview in the last couple of weeks. Most seem to say it's pretty good, but with two major flaws:

  1. The in-screen fingreprint sensor is useless, and
  2. Photo processing is very laggy, making the camera slow.

#1 I don't really care about. I probably should, but I don't.

#2 could be annoying. For a phone where the camera array is supposed to be such a big deal, if it's not good at combining images from those five cameras so it's slow, with big wait times during image processing before you can take the second shot, etc. well, that could be a problem. Some reviewers think it could be improved with app or firmware updates in the future. Others say that it's too much data for an already outdated processor and only a "9.1" with 2019 hardware could fix it.

So I went into Spark Queensgate after work tonight to have a look for myself. The display model in the shop was stuck somewhere in the start-up process (just an android one flash screen and the words "fastboot 38%" or something similar in low-res text on the status line at the top of the screen).

I asked one of the guys in store if he could get it going. He fiddled with it for a while but nothing changed and he seemed to lose interest and wander off. I went back to it after he gave up and held the power button down for about 10 seconds and it eventually restarted and booted up properly.

First impressions were good. Feels good in the hand. Quite light. I did note that in my usual holding position, with the phone in my left hand and using my right to tap/swipe, etc. the index finger of my left hand had a tendency to cover then lower lens(es) in the array. I think I'd need to be careful about keeping them clean. Clear, bright screen. There seemed to be very few apps loaded on it,so I'm happy it's not full of bloatware but that made it difficult to really play around with it much. Seemed generally pretty quick though, switching screens and apps. It would be interesting to see how it goes once someone had installed a lot of stuff on it, like Facebook, etc. and then have email apps, etc. running.

I spent quite a few minutes with the camera app, just taking shots around the store and out the door into the mall. It seemed OK - I wouldn't say I noticed it being particularly slow, although my reference point is a three year old HTC 10 so I haven't compared it to other phones with decent cameras like a new iPhone or a Huawei P30. Photo quality in basic "Auto" more was pretty good, thought I wouldn't say brilliant. Adjusting settings in "Pro" mode was easy and I probably could have gotten better shots if I'd had more time to experiment. My understanding is that there's supposed to be a photo editing app on the phone, but I didn't see it straight off, and wouldn't have had time to play with it tonight anyway. I'm planning on heading back to have more play time this weekend.

Yes have bought from them, but they are not NZ based or if they are they drop ship. Took a few weeks for my case to come (from the UK), but was good quality

Had a bit more of a play with the phone in my local store today.

General phone use, starting apps, using them, switching between them, connecting to the mall's free wifi, accessing a web page... all very quick and smooth.

The display is great. Bright, vivid colours.

The camera was awful. On auto settings, image quality was very poor. I only had to zoom in very slightly for what I considered an unacceptable amount of pixellation. There were also some weird artifacts, for example I took a picture of the card with the phone details on, which was in a plastic cover. There was light reflecting on the plastic and in the image the light had an unusual dark edge on one side which was definately not there in real life. The result looked a bit like a shadow, as if the reflection was "floating" above the plastic. Very weird effect. Maybe something about the artificial light in the store was giving it trouble and it would be better outside, in bright sunlight. Or something?

I fiddled with the settings and managed to get some half-decent photos. I'm sure given more time and experience I could have got some good ones. But it was like being back in my 35mm SLR days, manually changing aperture, shutter speed, etc. for each shot.Only it takes longer on the phone than it did on my old Pentax.
