I've tried the alternatives and I like them.. but I've had more success with sammy..

Also.. their warranty seems to be fairly easy when you got issues..

I'm not so convinced by that last point, going by this recent thread - https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumId=97&topicId=242751

I'm going on my experience with them..

Bugger for others.. but they've been quick and provide replacement or better..

However.. I've only had their S model or Note series phones..

I have been trying to see if I can get the phone covered under CGA - as a phone IMO should not just stop working - i can accept battery degradation but just turning into a paper weight is going  bit far.. However getting frustrated by Google lack of support channels - hard to get in touch and then no way to follow up with email - getting bounced around from Google to Huawei.. or maybe I'm probably pushing my luck as the phone is ~ 3 Years old but still..

One other suggestion which people have made to me is the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 - seen some pretty good reviews.

What screen ratio do you want? I hate the skinny ones and have the Huawei Mate 10 (not Pro) and are very much in love. I watch a lot of vids so wanted a wider ratio which is very hard to find. Its been superseded by the 20 but is still updated heaps (Just got Android 9 Pie). We have so many hassles with the Samsungs at work (2 faulty 9s, batteries) but my Huawei never misses a beat.
