My wife [who won't be afraid to let me know!] has no issues with her A30; she's pretty much hitting it constantly with gaming, and has no issues.

I didnt BASH the P30 Pro, I got leant one and reviewed it with positive thoughts in the P30 Pro thread. I am critical of some features but you get that with any phone.

When I researched the A30 they said whilst it is slightly behind the SD635 (i hink that was the chip) it was plenty powerful enough to handle day to day tasks, which is all im doing.

The icons being pressed not opening could be my sausage fingers, but apps closing an others opening is annoying.

I didnt buy a p30 pro as I wanted the s10e, I jut dont have the funds to justify it right now.

i will try stress testing it a bit more today.

So they restrict the CPU by 20% out of the box for battery optimisaion.

I also noticed its 1.8GB ram free, so unlikely to cause any problems.

It truely is a gorgeous screen to read off and watch movies. Supposedly 630~ nits, but I cant get passed 50% unless its a movie.

Perhaps it bricking itself I hadnt fully charged it to 100% and thought it was. My sausage fingers on one icon seem to be the bain of my user experience. I will move its location to make it easier to tap. I keep holding it by mistake.

I will try opening a number of apps and look at phone health to see whats going on.

Yes, I didnt go into this off the advice of one friend, I read a lot of reviews and other experiences and there was nothing consistently coming up as a common issue.

The new exynos chip runs within 10% of the sd635 for 50% of things and about equal for the rest.

So given I was using a J4 and really felt it was all I needed I didnt expect any issues with this phone.

I just opened about 10 apps of verious sizes, interestingly when I went back to all apps open only 5 were open.

Is that a Samsung process or a google process to start binning apps?

Well with largish apps like Netflix etc x5 I have 1.2GB ram free. I dsiabled this 20% choking of my CPU.

I also moved my one app that I use a lot to easier location and Ive noticed its quite sensitive, it prefers a quick poke than like a thumb press to open.

what are you doing with "animated screensavers" and having multiple apps open? didn't you say, "I mostly just want something for basic call function and watching netflix"?

also, you said you bought three A30s... all of them choke on having 2 apps open? what apps? because the ones i've seen at shops have more than 2 apps open and they're not choking.

apologies, but it does appear to me that you're simply regretting your purchase. i'm quite perplexed at how you managed to make the wrong choice, after multiple threads over several months.

i'll give you a tip for next time... these days, you don't really need a lot of research and opinions from forums to find the best phone. you do need money. any flagship phone from any maker will do the trick. and they'll be good for around 3 years, rather than 6 months, as you seem to be looking for a new phone in that cycle.

Every manufacturer has it's own limitations on background processes, based on what / how they think is best for resource management in the interest of battery life etc. Add to this, the weight of 'skins' and their contribution to RAM usage. Further, I find everyone's use case is different, and thus, it can be difficult to compare devices that are for different people. One persons experience may be quite different, as may their expectations of the device.

I hope you find solutions to your concerns and the phone becomes tolerable until the next replacement.

Sounds like the phone is fine. Why do you need to have 18 apps open at once? Sorry no 3gb won't allow you to do that. If you must have 18 apps open at once you need more RAM. Also make sure you don't disable background processes it could make apps need to be reloaded.

agreed.

agree also with your points regarding different maker's skins, etc. and even those aren't so bad anymore, i was a stickler for vanilla android and could never like touchwiz... one UI is much more palatable. i've had a p20 pro for about a year (camera!) - something i wouldn't even consider 3 or 4 years ago.

but OP is periodically asking about which phone is better, etc.

so, from where i sit looking at his threads... a $400 phone every six months, is twice as expensive as a $1200 phone every 3 years.

Thank you, I am finding out how they have tweaked these and undo all the power saving features, the 4000mah battery is plenty enough at the brightness level I have, also I plan to use night mode on them. The other 2 devices, the people are unlikely to notice and even if they do care as they are elderly. But Id like to get them setup as best as possible before handing them over.

I wish there was an app to remove Samsung bloatware. Removed their browser despite it getting good reviews.

My expectations were set by the j4, which for some reason seems to run more smoothly despite being less powerful.

I would like to know what it does with apps. Sometimes when you are in a flurry of messaging its hard to remember what was open and when I go back its gone, yet there is still plenty of Ram left.

To be fair, to get a SAMOLED display for this price point you cant expect a performance monster, I just want it to run a little smoother. Smoother is subject because at times it runs as smooth as the J4 or any flagship. Its quirks are almost not quantifiable as they are random and intermittent.

It does seem better since the major patch installed yesterday and once the slow mo patch is released here I think it will help some more.

The phone is fine and working as designed for a mid-range phone. We don't need yet another Android phone thread.

It is simply buyers remorse but as we've learnt there is no phones suitable for you. If you wanted flagship performance, you should have gotten flagship, end of story. Glad otherwise you're happy with it.
