Bloody things must have run out of juice, had to power them up fully and hard reset them. It doesnt give me much confidence in the produc.

Am I entitled under the Sales of Goods act?

Im really pissed off as I put a lot of time into finding the right phones. I feel the CPU is an issue. I would rather go with the Redmi Note 7s.

Email 1day and explain the issue and what they can do to fix it. They have a right of repair before refund. Could also be that just your device has the issue (mate had an issue with a oneplus 6t and ended up being a hardware issue with the ram) the supplier replaced it.

dont think it was the website 1 day, it was 1 day after purchase

@tealeaf have you tried changing the wallpaper again? did it lock up? if not put it down to a glitch in the matrix, they happen even to the best devices. if it does it again take it back

i highly doubt anyone would accept it back unless it was a ongoing issue. they may if they feel nice but just seems like buyers remorse more than anything.

Do you mean that an experienced phone buyer such as yourself skipped the "charge fully before using" step?

No I actually love the panels. it could be partly the piss weak CPU and the bloatware. there is only 1.6GB of ram left after a factory reset

I managed to repeat it with another animated screen saver. Its hard to say if its the cpu or the ram crashing it. I think CPU.

What I do like is the quality of the SAMOLED for the price. I could have got a non NFC one from the dick smith HK guy for $230.

In all honesty I would have bought 3 mi 9 SE's if the camera review was better. Supposedly it keeps the stabilisation motor like the mi 9 but for some reason its not working, They went more like IBIS in cameras than OIS. the realy answer will be both.

The A30 cant handle 2 apps open a the same time, it stalls when trying to open icons etc. Its a shame they didnt put a fit for purpose build in it, as its s joy to look at.

Will definitely sell it and upgrade to the s10e once prices drop below $800. I love the industrial design of that phone and with the same UI which gets such a hard time by people but I dont mind it at all.

But for now I need to find a way to squeeze another 20% juice out of this little puppy. I presime overclocking is a no go on mobile CPUs?

No I charged it to 100% first, when I say juice I mean CPU power. Thats the weak link on what is otherwise a nice little cheap phone.

Im going to jusy optimise them as much as possible then try to run the same UAT on the lock screen wall paper.

I spoke to my friend who has an A30 who recommended it. She also has it close down by itself, close apps by itself, not respond etc, and this is with just 1 app open.

I dont know if that patch which may or may not reach NZ will help but I really feel the device is not fit for purpose. Its anoying when you are typing a mesage and randomnly it might close or open up another app. Bizarre. There is not fix to this outside better hardware.

I've seen a suggestion that the A30 was aimed at the Indian market. If there is anything wrong with it there will be about 100,000 Hindi YouTube channels moaoning about it. Hyperbole off.

That's a shame he spent nearly a whole month researching this. I have a feeling it's not the model of phone it's the phone itself being a dud.

I am sorry TeaLeaf that after spending months bashing the Huawei Mate, P30 Pro camera you decided to go with an A30 with only 1.6GB of ram left after a factory reset that can't handle more than two apps open.

Perhaps investigate more, ask for more references, more advice in a public forum. Look at camera features too.

May I recommend a Windows Phone?

(Yes, it's sarcasm. Everyone knows you berated other people's phones but you ended up having a crappy device on hand - and an old Windows Phone. That's my point, so learn and perhaps stop being a dick to everyone else's choices).

1.6gb of free RAM is plenty. You probably have a dud phone.

Agreed, I have 1.3GB remaining on the G5s and the Pixel 2 right now. Something more going on here, perhaps software issues, or CPU issues as you say.

I am wondering if this is buyers remorse after seeing a better alternative post purchase.
