Dxo (which updated how it evaluates MOBILE cameras) has the Huawei Camera at 128 and the Xiaomi Mi 10 pro at 124 (same as mi 10 5g), both top 5 with neither apple or samsung to be seen. Although I like the Xiaomi note 9s for $380 (or $500 from PB if u want 2 year warranty). Same sensor type but uses samsung not sony from memory. Massive 5080mah battery and low power usage CPU should be a real 3 day possibility. The screen has some light bleed and is 450 nits max, but thats lcd for you and $4-500. Mrs was given an A50 for work. So considering the 9s for personal use. I do like all 3 cameras on these phones though.

Anyway what is this thread doing in Android when its not an Android phone?

You lost me at DXO, place is paid by OEMs to give favorable reviews. It's like going to phonearena for unbiased Android reviews when they're clearly sucking on the Apple milk.

Don't overthink it too much. Some of these posts go in strange directions.

So Huawei and Xiaomi is paying them? ;-p Hey Ive been using DXO for years due to my photography, trust me, I dont take in any way them as an authoritative source, but often (not always) they are generally about right as a gauge not a be all end all. And they have changed their weightings on Mobiles. LG fans have argued for ages they under rate their devices, so that could partly be true what you say. But what magazine, media etc is not swayed by some reason or another. Its impossible to even get consitently good news these days, certainly not in NZ, somewhere between the NYP and BBC maybe.....

I think the main issue with DXO prior was it wasnt taking into account facets of phones some have that others dont or how much better they are, more so now we are proudcing multi lens phones. Macro for example I doubt will have much weighting to DXO, much wide angle didnt for a while, where people using it with user reviews are loving it on the Xiaomi based sensors.

I like Huawei using Leica even if its just branding, Leica camera gear is known for high quality, especially glass, not suggesting its mobile lenses are but they certainly havnt hurt since the P20P onward. I do hope Huawei go with a Macro some time in the future. As per the mi 10 range as per below. But clearly outside that its a good camera phone.

I can see the convenience the Mi 10 and Mi note 10 phone group give out having all lenses covered inc Macro for as little as $750~. The Xiaomi appears to be using multiple sensors to cover this array. Strangely for once the users are bang on the Kimovil 9.3/10 on this model with Kimovil appointing the 9.3 on the camera (and the overall score)https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-mi-note-10

Are the Bose headies better quality than the JBL giveaway last year?

I remember people cancelling their 2degrees to get the discount last year, will some run the gauntlet of uncertainty this year for half the discount of the P30P.....

My mistake sorry Freitasm damn brain fog from my MS gets me bad at night. Of course its an Android. Do you think you will upgrade to the new model this year?.

President Trump took a break from borking his administrations response to COVID-19 and blamin' it (it referring to anything he borked, including Eric) on Obama to sign a new executive order reinforcing the Huawei ban for another year

The Xiaomi mi 10 5g is $900, has a very good camera and includes a macro lens which is actually VERY useful and massive 5020mah battery.

Anyway what is this thread doing in Android when its not an Android phone?

It is still running Android just no Google services.  The Xiaomi Mi 10 5G 'standard' cost $1,300NZ at Parallel Imported. No where seen is the Mi 10 Pro 5G.

The $900 is the Xiaomi Note Mi 10 Pro.  It is a "Note" and I don't think it is 5G.
The Note version was released November last year 2019.

Genuinely happy that Huawei haven't begun price-gouging like Samsung has. $2200 for the S20 Ultra? That's Apple prices.

If these phones supported Google Play Services then they'd be a fantastic deal.

Not yet in stores yet but the Oppo Find X2 Pro has a RRP of $1899NZ.  If Trump didn't block Huawei we might find the Huawei commanding much higher prices.

If that X2 Pro was $200 cheaper I would have got it over the OnePlus 8 Pro, that vegan leather looks beautiful.

Hey guys, for anyone who has gone the way of using HMS and not sideloading Google services... can you test and confirm whether apps like NZ herald and hudnreds of others who rely on Google's GCM for push notifications still send notifications through somehow? @NikT perhaps you could help answer that?

I honestly dont see the big deal with the loss of APPS. Outside Maps(drive). Most apps are the same concept rehashed a 50th time ie Skype-whatsapp-snapchat-zoom, for god sake stick with the more secure professional service of skype everybody is use to (although I believe this is changing with windows Teams).

Anyway my point is, $900 + a free semi useful watch, you get an ultra powerful phone with a great camera and hi end lenses.

So what you do for apps is use this thing called a web browser, and you favourite youtube and gmail etc. Unless web browser versions of the software doesnt work as well?

Ive always found apps more annoying than useful when you can just use the html5 version anyway.

Driving apps like a camera app is an essential though.

Kopkiwi: The Gt2 watch is the best I've used (I include apple watch 5 in that)

yea nah, not even close for me. I have used apple watch series 1/3/4/5. and while on android Galaxy watches from the first one to current watch active2. i bought the Huawei GT2 when i got the P40 Pro thinking why not go full huawei. after 2 hours of use i went back to samsung active2. It is not really a smart watch, but more a fitness tracker., you cant do ANYTHING with notifications, you literally only see them. watch faces are limited. no third party apps. Its simply a fitness tracker. nowhere near as complete as samsung, let alone apple watch which is in another league.

However, for the price of 200, cant really complain. but if you want an actual smart watch and not just a fitness tracker, then its not any good.

Design is GORGEOUS though!

Fitness tracker first for me. No smart watch makes messaging easy or quicker than just using your phone.
