robjg63:
josephhinvest: Factory reset. Unplug everything. Test.

Cheers,
Joseph

As above, but update firmware after the factory reset.

I guess this is the road I need to take. Waiting for tech to book a time.

Update:

The repair guy came over and took it away leaving me with a loan Samsung 42'  TV.   I already miss my Sony TV!
Says that its a known fault and needs a new motherboard.  Would take about 5 days as they need the part from Sony

Thanks guys for your input.   Shall keep you updated.

Quick answer is no.  No standby LED visible from the front panel.

There is the white led at the bottom centre that can be dimmed or switched On or OFF or set to  respond to remote key presses.
This LED is off when in standby.

Hi Guys

My Product Care insurers called me and gave the following 3 options

  1. Store Credit Harvey Norman (lose my existing product care)
  2. Get it repaired and Product Care continues its life till 2023,  (no extra years added)
  3. Give give back cash to my bank account equivalent to the purchase price $1588

I think I will go for option 2, get the cash and buy a larger 65" TV.

Can anyone recommend a Sony TV as I kind of like the Android platform as I have used googleplay to download the apps
Kodi, TVNZ, TV3, Plex,
Assuming that Freeview terrestrial  and Netflix YouTube come preinstalled nowadays

I like the matt screen of my previous Sony.

Didnt like the Tizen interface of the Samsung loan TV and havent even looked hard at the LGs and Panasonics.

PB tech has this Sony Bravia FWD-65X80H-65 for $2366 this labour weekend

Don't have the money to spend on an OLED and normally I use my GEM visa hire purchase to buy big ticket items

thanks so much

I have a KD65X8000G, it was a fairly economic choice as OLED was beyond my means. Overall I love it!
It's the low end of the range but I'm not a TV-ophile and it's certainly great for me. I primarily use with my Mac mini for HTPC functions, also hosts my Plex server. And I use the TV apps for Netflix, Youtube, TVNZ and TV3 (no TV antenna at all).

Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks @josephinvest

I am very keen on the Sony -65X9000H   Sony store sells it for $2599 with free shipping.
Have PMd a Geekzoner who I think bought this model.

Anyone else who bought the 65X9000H  and recommendations?
I need to buy it now so looking for specials this labour weekend

As my old TV was taken for repairs without a factory reset , Do you think I need to call the repair centre and tell
them to reset it so all my logins are now invalid?   Netflix TVNZ  TVTHREE come to mind

cheers

EDIT  TV Model Typo corrected,

Thanks @robjg63

I have deleted the device (old TV) from my google account.

Interesting that once logged on to my new TV, I didnt have to log into Netflix, but not TVNZ

Cheers
