No Xaiomi phone owner, I expect you to die!

Whilst the only xiaomi phone supported is a redmi note 7, my oneplus 8 despite not being mentioned as supported got the alert.

Its very hit and miss but I can bet some xiaomi phone owners got alerts and some didn't due to firmware differences.

Ramblings from a mysterious lady who's into tech. Warning I may often create zingers.

I never saw the alert, and after looking at all the options mentioned here, I can find no trace of one.

Why doesnt it show up in the Tracer App? Isnt that what it is for?

Because the alert system has nothing to do with Covid or the app.  It's used for all types of emergencies that you need to be alerted to..

obviously not for all cell broadcast alerts, e.g. tsunami... however, there's no reason why the covid tracer app shouldn't have CoVID related alerts, right? there's an 'Advice' section in the Dashboard that can easily have this information.

Seem to get similar queries/comments each time a test or the system is utilised :)

Started off as a large collection of some technical data and discussion back here.. https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=42&topicid=223519&page_no=18

Presumably newer devices/firmware have had the appropriate NZ changes - as they suggested would happen going forward in the early deployment.

To the point where some, now appear to read the message out with the default TTS set on device too.

And some are integrating the EM system with the standard SMS messaging. All likely down to manufacturer
