A quick Google search for NZ suppliers selling Pixel 4A 5G, (pricespy too), they all say the Pixel4a is compatible in NZ, and operates on 4G and 5G.

No reason to doubt them right? Maybe they will sell the Pixel 6 with 5G too? 🤣

I too would love a new Pixel, but can't live without VoLTE as some of the areas I visit are serviced via RCG 4G sites only.

Very disappointing. This is where we need Jason Paris to push to open up VoLTE for VF.

MaxineN: Won't be carrier approved and if it's anything like the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G it will not work flat out because Google disables it intentionally.

The Japanese market Pixels have a few extra bands compared to USA market Pixels:

Does this improve the situation with NZ carriers? I don't know.

All of the pixels have fully supported NZ bands including B28. But 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi is intentionally disabled because Google doesn't sell in NZ and no carrier will pick up the series.

I'm happen to be proven otherwise if by some miracle one of our big three telco's pick up the series(or Google recognize that hey NZ exists) but till then we will only see it as a parallel import and we won't get the above features, just basic 4G and 3G and 2G.

@JasonParis

Big ask here but what are your plans(if there are any at all) to have more devices (other than OP's topic about Google's) vs Samsung, Apple and Oppo on your shelves? I'm very curious as to why we're still stuck with those 3 choices and what are the chances of bringing something to the table so we have a more open phone market and more choice.

We got our pixel 3 and 3xl on a trip to the UK and will probably end up doing the same again next time we go visit family as it's just easier to pick one up when there. We don't regret buying them at all but it's a real shame they don't offer them over here to upgrade, they just tick all my boxes and we did get them at a great price.

It always seemed strange to bother setting up a Google store to sell best and Chromecast but not release Google homes (until later when they finally did) or the pixel phones. So many companies just use the Aussie offices for warranties so out wouldn't be ridiculous effort to sell them here.

Just read that the P6 release in Germany is €649.00 (Approx, $1083nzd) with a pair of Bose 700 bundled as a gift on preorder

Can't verify the retailer but yeah I'd be shocked if there was anything like this here. It's currently the top post on the Android subreddit.

There's no 5G support here so it's a deal breaker for me. Not sure how others feel about this?

It won't get sold here at all.

Would the no 5g support only be for an imported P6?

It would be a deal breaker for me in that situation anyhow but I'm almost certain I'm not going to buy unless it's officially dropped here anyhow. Have appreciated your 2c on things so far, thanks!

That's what other members have said, it won't support local 5G here.

Pixels are never officially launched here so it's always imported.

I think this is not exactly correct. It's possible I'll be in a position to confirm prior to launch.

Well Australia is definitely getting it, like all of the earlier Pixels. They sold the Nexus phones here, but not the Pixels so they took a decision to exit this country.

Really sad, I'm not a fan of Samsung's bloatware and my 3XL is starting to get long in the tooth. Disk Smith or some other grey importer is all we've got left.

And if you do decide to get one, wait for a couple of months until the bugs settle, it's a long way to return a defective phone.

Does the Aussie version of the previous Pixels work here on 3g, 4g and 5g?
