This is what happened the last time and despite Civil Defence being advised, they appear to have ignored the problem.

Many many phone users would not be able to recover the message to read it.

I expect Thats a phone maker thing. Not a government thing. (And it's a test, not the real deal so may not have the same attributes)

Found mine just fine.. it's easier on iPhone with the draw down bar. But android's had it for a while. Its part of the core play services like the covid eni.
Some bury it in messages. Some in phone settings -alerts. On mine its as simple as going 'emer..' in setting search and boom. Multiple emergency alert related menus/setting

Came through on my wife's Samsung but nothing on my P30. Not sure why as they have worked in the past - history shows last one received in August late year.

Same on my iPhone. Had been to movies earlier and forgotten to turn off ‘silent’ by the time the alert came through. Notification but no sound.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

I knew it was happening but forgot about it and the wife's went off first and scared the bejesus out of me for a second then all was silent for a couple of minutes and then mine went off and I was like god damn it hahahahah.
Getting older and loud instant sounds equals shorter life.

I was surprised it came through on my parallel imported phone (on Vodafone) - I had been told it wasn't supported, but I guess it is.

I'll check my Spark phone and see if it came through to there as well.

Edit: nope, looks like the phone had to be switched on at the time and my Spark one wasn't.

Still not working on wifi calling. :( will they ever?
None of our 4 phones got it as we don’t have coverage here.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Nope. It's based on CB (cell broadcast) and can only come from the raw cell hardware

VoWIFI is simply bridging a gap to the providers voip

It came through on both my iPhone and Apple Watch, but my friend's old Samsung phone didn't receive it.
