I also remember signing up to the galaxy unpacked PB Tech event thing where people (who registered) are supposed to get 'something' special that can be used on the pre-order (like $100 off?). I haven't received anything from PB about what this is yet...

They are pretty disappointing bundles. Fairly low effort.
soggychups:Was really hoping to upgrade from my s10e however i cant justify 1.6k for a phone. Might have to look at the A series...

Not me, been buying Galaxy S phones every year since Galaxy S2 (with a couple exceptions when I went Sony Z), but this year I definitely won't be going S23. Significantly more expensive than last years models with possibly the smallest improvements from a previous generation I've seen, and the bundles aren't super enticing this year either. Maybe this year is the year I go with a folding phone. I don't see these flying off the shelf, but hopefully it means those who pre-order this year won't suffer the shipping delays, tracking issues and communication problems that a lot of us had with S22 orders last year. Good luck and hope you guys enjoy your new gadgets.

Same, Flagship phone each year for the longest time, but I can't recall the last time an 'upgrade' looked less enticing in almost any way, specs, price or bundled offer.

The A series is pretty amazing value for what they are. I’ve had two family members upgrade from older flagship models to the a53 recently and both are really happy.
For most normal people the only feature it’s really missing is wireless charging. They both paid around $450 which is pretty great value.

The main reason stopping me from the A series is the question around how many years of support they'll get. My S21 is guaranteened to get 5 years of updates so it is worth IMHO paying a bit more for a Sxx series to get 5 years of support compared to paying a little bit less and get only maybe 1 or 2 years of support. The $/years-of-support of the S21 is probably better than for any of the A series. My S21 is still going strong and I suspect I'll see it through another 1-2 years easily (and maybe even go up to 5 years).
Another black mark against the A series is Samsung putting adverts on the lock screen and other places. My work phone is an A73 and stuff like that really does annoy me and I see none of that stuff on my S21.
Will be looking at the S23 with interest but like others I think I will wait and see what the S24 (or even the S25) brings.

There's no question. Galaxy A series devices released after 2019 get the same software support as the S series.

So I ended up going down the Samsungs EPP route this time (seems to have the best deal for the phone itself). A couple of PBtech ones look ok (bummer i purchased the same air fryer a couple of weeks ago).
Was able to get s23 ultra 512gb / 12gb ram
Leather case
Screen protector
65w adapter tiro
2 x galaxy smart tags+
Total was $1987. So happy with that.
Just wanted to point out also if you have access to the EPP there is a stackable deal going on where you can get up to 50% off watches and buds (finishes 17th feb).
Also here is the a couple of $80 off if you go via pbtech (got it in a email after i had already ordered via EPP) PBS234426588

What's EPP? Do they fit the screen protector? They used to include one already fitted and it would stay on the longest compared to everything else I tried. I've given up trying screen protectors on my phones, I've tried about half a dozen and they stay on for days or at most a couple of weeks.
Ramblings from a mysterious lady who's into tech. Warning I may often create zingers.
