witchdoctorgaz: Hi there,

Everything still working ok with the Find X6 Pro?

Its a great phone. Took some wonderful pics . Now as a habitual phone changer, i have moved ti Xiaomi 13 ultra :).

I'd be keen on what you think. I have the Oppo X5 Pro, and I really like it....mostly (zoom sucks, some UI stuff). I am debating on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, waiting on the iPhone 15 Pro max (but it looks like there is no upgraded sensor, just the adds periscope), importing the Huawei P60 Pro or just not sure. Not a Samsung shape fan due to the square/box edge.

Its an interesting conversation. I have Xiaomi 13 ultra and 14 pro max with me at the moment. The reason i let Oppo find x6 pro go was lack of custom roms like Xiaomi.EU and variety of accessories available. Also, i had both phones with me so had to let one chinese phone go :)

However, Oppo cameras are 10-20% better than xiaomi 13 ultra purely on quality of output. I give the credit to Marisilicon ISP for that reason. Oppo also has better connectivity options as well like VoLTE, Wifi Calling, 5g etc and phone feels much smoother (talking about stock roms, xiaomi.EU fixes this)

You are OK with either one of them but Oppo has better camera specs but less Zoom range. There is no push notification issues on either . Both work perfectly

iPhone on the other hand has the worse back camera except videos and better front camera than both of them.

My father in law has asked me to look into new phones, and I was thinking about oppo as my wife has had a good experience with one of the midrange models. He'd be after the top of the line, but the x5 pro seems like it's been out for over a year, are we not getting the x6 pro here in NZ? That seems strange given the posh they has had here.

Oppo has decided not to launch the X6 Pro globally this year, so you'd need to parallel import one, e.g. Aliexpress

Their hero/flagship for this year in NZ is the Find N2 Flip

Interesting. Don't think he'll be too keen on the flip style haha. Oh well, probably easier for him to stick with Samsung.

Does android auto work on Oppo Find X6 Pro?

Play store works fine but I can't get Android Auto to work.

The Oppo X6 Find is not compatible with 66% of New Zealand Mobile network Low Bands. More specifically its been designed for the China market spectrum allocation and only Supports a subband of our LTE 700 Band 28 Layer. More specifically only Band 28 B (B28B). This means you will likely have indoor coverage issues as your device wont support the indoor coverage that the LTE700 band brings. More importantly as it supports only part of the LTE700 layer you will be failing calls and data and voice when trying to setup calls when camping under LTE700 coverage.

Unfortunately this information isn't published found out the hard way based on Customer complaint and deepdive from an operator in NZ. In China they have slightly different Band setup to New Zealand hence they only Support Band 28B which is a subband of the Band 28 (LTE700)  that we support.

A learning and something to watchout guys in buying grey market/ imported devices. There are issues with support from this including VoLTE support etc  (very important considering all operators are turning off 3G over the next 18 months) so something to test out fully before punting an imported device.

Being NZ we are small so we do miss out on availability of good devices seen in other markets but reason for this is local operator sold devices have to be fully tested and be supported by the local market and we dont have the scale to have a rich availability of phone models available in New Zealand.
