Anyone heard the rumours that it is in fact coming out on Google's NZ store?

Nope. Are you starting one or do you really have something?

MikeB4: He has experience issues with the radios, display. His 6Pro failed three times until he asked for a full refund

Like others have said that does sound just unfortunate and unlucky. I usually wait for the second hardware manufacturing run at least to avoid any new device issues. Others here buying first run have had no issues. That said, buying first run in NZ with full NZ warranty and support that would not worry me at all.

I should have replaced "the" with "any" in that sentence but I wrote it in a rush on the way out to work, sorry for the tease! - I was curious if anyone had heard any rumours, seeing as Google's older devices have been opening themselves up to the NZ Market in terms of network support etc.

Almost everything about the Pixel 8 has been leaked, I've read about it on Android Authority. Sounds like it'll be a good replacement to my Pixel 4a. The Pro model has a telephoto camera, but I think the smaller standard model is better for me, I don't really like large phones.

The only thing I'm wondering about is whether to grab it when it's first released which might get a bonus like a Pixel Watch, or give it a couple of weeks until someone else verifies it works ok in NZ. I think the chances of it working are very good, but if anyone from the carrier (Vodafone is my carrier) can say whether it'll work on the network that'd be super helpful - VoLTE I think is the main requirement.

How are you planning on ordering it in order to get the Pixel Watch?

We won't know if this is possible until it is released. It might be US only.

According to the page I will link below (on mobile) Pixel pro users might get a bonus Pixel watch, Pixel standard users might get Pixel buds. Either could be a nice bonus for being an early adopter, but If the phone doesn't work properly that's more bonus doesn't really help.

As far as I recall, based on past launches of Nexus and Pixel phones, the special offers and trade-ins have only been available to Google customers in countries where they sell the products through a Google account and that has not included NZ.

Even the recently launched Pixel Tablet cannot be purchased through an NZ based Google account.

As per my original post, I am hoping that the features which now work on Android 14 (beta) in NZ will mean that they will also in NZ otherwise we will have to purchase the new Pixels from overseas again.

If it launches an Australia I would get a friend over there to get one for me. Though if it is on Amazon AU or USA that would probably be simpler.

Imo there would be some "mysterious announcement" dates provided to NZ insiders for marketing excitement purposes. There are no indicators that's going on. If it's you - you're not succeeding so far ; ).

I might or might not be a buyer. The main reason I'm watching the 8 release date this time - how long after and how much the Pixel 7(a) prices drop when the 8 is out?

I think I might be settling down into being an "a" series adopter although that could change.
