As much as I love new gadgets, I'm going to stick with my S21U until it dies. Battery isn't what it used to be but it still does everything I need well and the camera is more than sufficient for my needs.

daunjan: The OnePlus 13 was launched at CES should be available 2 weeks, and the Oppo x8 ultra around the corner. Samsung needs to step their game up.

Yes but sadly it's too late for Sammy to make any changes now.

How certain are you of the information ? The phone hasn't been released yet. I guess there will be leaks and rumors.

Can I ask why? Can you not get a full day out of the battery, 6-8h screen on time for mixed tasks, less if gaming?

For most peoples use cases, it's fine as is the charger, as most charge overnight and don't need 100W charging, but its good to be able to plug in for 10 mins and get an extra 20-30% charge.

Samsung are also probably a little more cautious with respect to batteries after previous sagas so, it will come, but not this year.

I can certainly get a full day out of the battery on my S24U but the 5000mAh capacity has been used since S20U, which is 5 generations of Ultras, same as the charging speed, getting a bit tiring imho. As for fast charging, one of my use case is to be able to fully charge the phone on my way to work (~30 min drive) if faster charging protocol was implemented.

I just wished Samsung would innovate, they certainly have the resources to do so, the Note 7 fiasco was certainly unfortunate but not an excuse to not move forward with technology because of it.

Big Sammy fan here. This year I am also keen to move away as I just don't see as much innovation as other players.

Hope I am wrong with the S25 series.

I am afraid you may be proven right...

Considering the Silicon carbon battery is only just starting to roll out in other phones/flagships, Samsung might have just missed the boat on the S25U. With current tech, bigger battery, means bigger phone, and i think they can't really get too much bigger. With the new Silicon carbon battery, you can cram in an extra 10-20% for the same size, or make it smaller but keep the same battery life. I also didnt say they were not moving forward, i said they might be a little more cautious because of what had happened in the past.

You haven't really seen many non Chinese brands use 80-100w charging. And the 45W charging is still faster than Apple. And unless you have the specific charger, you won't be getting much more than 20w anyway.

I'm looking forward to upgrading my S23 to the S25 this year. Not that there's anything wrong with my S23, but I'm keen to upgrade every 2 years to stay current. I'll be happy if the S25 keeps the form factor and great battery life of the S23. That's pretty much all I want from the new model.

I am also on the S23, the ultra variant. Looking to see if there is any reason to upgrade this year, or at launch. Maybe even delay my purchase until later in the year (Father's Day, Black Friday) when the discounts from Sammy are too good not to buy.

I'll use the trade-in discount again if the pricing works out OK. I've used it twice before and the trade-in value was pretty close to what you could get by selling on Trade Me, but without the hassles.

Did you use the trade in at launch?
For the life of me, I can't remember the trade-in bonuses of the previous launch deals.
I have an S22U and tinkering with the idea of a pre-order at launch if the trade-in is good. Looks to me like there's no bonus trade-in at launch.

I hope the camera is a step in the right direction again. The S23U I gave to my wife is still far superior to the camera in my S24U. It's really frustrating how inconsistent these things are from version to version.

Whereas, I wish they went back to the Cameras that didn't stick out and make the phone not sit unevenly on flat surfaces, I've never once felt the camera in my phone was unsuitable for a photo I wanted to take, in fact it annoys me that they are ever increasing the MP so every single basic photo takes up a gazillion MB.

Even video, 1440p at 60fps is so overkill for most people (perfect for me).

I don't mind the form factor, I just want pictures that don't need some level of post processing to clean them.
