Asteros: Pixels are great but as Timmay says it is a pain to obtain warranty repairs in NZ. With Dick Smith either you or they will send it back to the origin country of purchase so be prepared for a long wait.

Depends. I'd ask Dick Smith .co.nz what their service policy and turnaround is for Pixel warranty if you're concerned about that.

Yes I could be wrong and they could arrange repairs your phone in NZ. However there are no authorised repair agents for Pixels in NZ and the nearest authorised warranty service would be provided in Australia. In my experience parallel imported goods are sent back to the country of origin for service but once again I could be wrong in this case. I've since stopped buying parallel imported goods.

if you guys are really worried about warranty and service and etc you really shouldnt be buying anything other than samsung or apple in NZ.

I personally have not used warranty or service on any device in the last 3 decades. If something happens to my devices its either physical damage like breaking or water damage, which arent covered by warranty. i just use content insurance. so not really fussed about warranty.

Fair enough. I've had an Ipad and an Macbook Air M2 replaced under NZ warranty by Apple NZ in the past 5 years. The way I see it it was the luck of the draw. I've also had to return a Pixel bought in the USA for warranty because of a known battery fault and it took a while. Once again luck of the draw. But it was easier to deal with the Apple products because they had an NZ warranty. At the same time I've had many NZ bought Iphones and none of them have had faults.

I wouldn't claim on contents insurance for something as small as a phone, we keep the excess quite high to reduce the ever increasing premiums. Of my last three phones Huawei P9, Pixel 4a, Pixel 8, only the Pixel 8 has needed repair. It's not super likely, but if it happens it's a real pain in the butt. I suspect repair would take months, so I'd have had to go back to my old phone or buy a replacement it'd take so long.

Anyone using a Pixel 10 in NZ yet? Just bought a Pixel 10 Pro in France. Fantastic phone, but I've heard stories of 5G not working properly in some countries due to Google's 5G carrier whitelisting policies?

5G worked out of the box on my Pixel 8 Pro  (in NZ) so I am confident that it will work on my Pixel 10 Pro XL which has just cleared customs.

I have Pixel 9, recently purchased on eBay. Everything works out of the box. I'd be surprised if that changed for Pixel 10.

True, but it'd be an expensive way to find out that the 10s don't work!

Thanks guys. Well, we'll find out soon! Please report back. It's a fabulous phone. First time Pixel for me having moved from Samsung. The AI stuff was just too tempting to resist 😃

I’m super hesitant on getting P10 pro given the G5 chip not being on par with others. Also, i played with one at jb hi fi and its very identical. I might have to wait for users intake before deciding. there’s also iphone 17 around the corner, tough times to choose which phone but desperate for a new phone given my battery life of iphone 12 pro and it’s outdated camera. For those who bought P10, hope you enjoy it.

Can you share what you liked the most about the phone? Can you also comment on the battery life, camera quality and any overheating issues?

Well I've only had it for 2 days, so my experience is somewhat limited! Performance of the G5 seems absolutely fine. If you want to play hard core games all the time, maybe it's not for you. But the inbuilt AI capability of the chip is appealing to me. I'm coming from a dated Samsung, so it's a big step up for me. The screen is beautiful and the whole Pixel Android experience is very smooth and intuitive. There's heaps of AI capability here, but it sort of just happens without you needing to do much. The phone suggests all sorts of things for you to try out. Battery life seems really good. I had it on for 15 hours yesterday and it was still over 40% battery life at the end of the day. No overheating at all. Camera is great - it's a Pixel!

Do you mean it's very identical to the Pixel 9? Well physically maybe, but there are a lot of improvements on the 10 Pro.

Do we have a list of features that will not work in NZ? There's this but not sure how accurate it is, https://www.whereisenabled.com/country/new-zealand/

Wonder if there is a way to trick the phone into thinking it's in Australia then at least we would get most of the features.
