phatbloke: Im running Modaco's Desire port R21. Its fantastic. Super stable. The only thing that is not working is the bluetooth properly but I can live with that for a while until they sort it.

My N1 I dont think lasted even a couple days, I desperatly wanted better exchange sync and the desire port sorted that, does contacts, mail and calendar. Just not tasks which I have worked around with Rememer the Milk and Astrid.

I use the BT a lot, so I'll wait until it's sorted out. Paul O'Brien is back from holiday today (assuming he doesn't have to fly from somewhere) so we may see some progress in the next week or few.

The rooting of the Nexus One and customization abilities of it, are at this point the major thing stopping me from running out and picking up and HTC Desire. I really like being able to change my themes, icons and what not.

Mind if I ask where you guys got your N1 from and how much you paid?

A comparitable price to the Desire could sway me towards the N1.

I bought one of my N1's direct from Google, shipped to comgateway.com for me via fedex (free shipping in the US). No sales tax as comgateway.com are in Oregon. (They are actually a Singapore company). I also bought a spare battery.

Costs:

US price was US$529 + US$25 (phone and battery - shipping included) = US$554

+ US$51.23 shipping to NZ = US$605.23 Total

PLUS -> NZ GST was NZ$149.50.

The service was great, though delayed a little over Easter weekend.

Note: comgateway.com required that I verify a charge to my credit card by entering it on their web site after it appeared on my Internet banking. They actually shipped the phone several days before I verified it, but that was after I had a chat session with their online support. I went back after receiving the phone and entered the amount...and my card is now verified as valid.

Thanks for the prices, but it's a little more than the Desire, a good $200 more.

$200 more with a spare battery and consequent GST removed? The shipping from the UK seemed more expensive (?45??). That would balance out the NZ$25 price saving. Of course x-rates move every day. A week ago they are about equivalent. UK price slightly lower, shipping slightly higher.....and you can get an N1 today. No volcanos.

I put a pound sign in, but Geekzone appears to have removed it.
