'only' a 5MP camera?

so what? unless you are planning on blowing up the pictures much bigger than 10 x 8 then who cares if itonly has 5MP - that is plenty.
(and if you are plannning on that, then most phone cameras are going to suck, no matter how many megapixels they have)

I've played with both demo units and I'm still unsure which I prefer! I am looking more seriously at the Milestone though, the hardware keyboard and the fact that its a much later version of android has swayed me a little. plus throw in the fact that its a bit cheaper as well.

You are right though, the 600mHz processor should be more than enough.

I was looking at the Motorola Milestone, and can find lots of press stuff regarding it coming to Telecom on July 1st, but July 1st has been and gone and the Milestone doesn't appear to be on the Telecom site or in their stores (at least not the one I went in on the weekend). Does anyone know when it's actually going to be available?

Of those two I'd recommend the Milestone. Its processor is slower, but can be overclocked with Root, and its GPU is better, so its really not as bad a comparison as the Mhz numbers might lead you to believe.

As someone has mentioned, do not mistake Root being available for being synonomous with the availability of custom ROMS or 2.2 firmwares. In the case of the X10 I think it'll be very difficult to port 2.2 indeed because of Sony's very atypical implementation of Android.

All that said, both the Desire and Galaxy S trump either of those two handsets IMO (I've owned all of them except the Milestone, which I have had some decent hands-on time with).
