Wonder if Paul's lurking?

Any official word?

Dingbatt: I just spoke to a salesperson in a Vodafone store and she claimed vf had put out a press release saying that there is not going to be a desire from vf. I couldn't see anything on the vf website. Has anyone else seen any new details since Paul Brislen's initial release?

There's some a week and a bit left of July!

From @vodafonenz: @kyhwana they're going live this month... not available yet. ^PB

The message I got from from @vodafoneNZ a few days ago was that they didn't know when the Desire was going to be available.

Personally I think it's got a bit to do with them wanting to shift as many units of phones like the SE Xperia x10i (Android 1.6 Donut) as possible.  These phones have some good deals running with bundled Smart packages until the end of this month.

However, sales of these phones are likely to drop away once an Android 2.1 phone is released.  Therefore I'd say it's more likely the Desire will be released early next month.

I don't mind if it's not this month. I would just like to know whether to wait for a vf handset with a good smartphone plan and purchase subsidy or just get a parallel import and be done with it.
Hopefully the arrival of the iPhone 4 isn't interfering with it.

The HTC Desire is seeing fairly strong demand everywhere it is being sold. My mate got one in OZ last week, but only after going to a lot of shops to find it sold out....and locating the last one in a not-busy shop.

It may well be VFNZ has wait on supply.

His was from Telstra (so supports Telecom NZ frequencies).

I've seen a post elsewhere that stated the Nexus is due out here tomorrow

Not sure if that's legit or not?

The HTC Desire is not happening at Vodafone. And no, they didn't send out a "cancellation" press release.
