It's looking a bit more likely, 1024x600 I can handle, more than likely replace my Netbook..well relegate my netbook to my Cisco training :)

Yeah, but android froyo apparently can only support 854x400, gingerbread can support the higher resolutions that are being thrown around for the tab but its not going to be running gingerbread.
So probbably it is going to be running 400x800 unless they have really done some work on customising the android OS...
Anything is possible of course.. and I am really hoping it is 1200x600 or something similar..
800x600 would definitely be a letdown for many.. 3 inches extra screen space and no resolution increase..
anyway not long to wait.. fingers crossed.. for me it would be the difference in possibly buying and definitely not buying..

With the values aboev and the Xda developers finding more custom 1024x600 in the Samsung apps, I'm guessing the res will be native 1024x600 which will be fine, Samsung apps/video will be 1024x600, but any other apps will possibly just scale themselves up by 1.2x or so

The 854x400 res isn't a limit according to google, just a guide for developing apps so most other devices can downscale them, so with a bit of customisation fingers crossed most apps won't have issues(or look stretched).

Only time will tell though, bring on Sept 2nd...also price will be a major factor, any close to the iPad and I'm going to sell my netbook and get an new M11X

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

I might have to buy some cargo pants with big pockets :)

It is really good to see android being so backed now. I think with a huge company like Samsung really pushing it things are going to change rapidly. The size of the roll out of the galaxy is pretty huge and I think the tablet should be pretty successful. Hopefully Samsung will put a fair whack of $$ into marketing.....

I just have to figure out my latest excuse for the wife as to why we need a galaxy tab.... :)

I think at that steep price it might struggle...
A real shame about the lack of samoled screen too.

Yeah, have to see the screen in person before purchasing, the LCD bit is annoying, but it does look good in the pics on Engadget and the video looks crisp

But at 550 pound that's too much(but i guess not the official price), I wouldn't pay more than 400 pounds for one. The built in 3G, micro-SD, Flash, Froyo, dual cameras and most importantly the battery 4400mAh in such a small package(iPad has 6000mAh but the bigger screen)

I like the design actually, glad to see they just didn't pull a straight copy of the iPad and came up with their own styling. Good to see eBooks working well also. Will wait for the reviews on this one though, have to see whether it'll replace my netbook on flights/holiday

LCD can look pretty good, the iphone 4 proves that but samoled is nicer :)

Gingerbread has been promised for the tab too which will support the resolution properly.
Until then a lot of apps wont scale properly on it.
Apparently samsung have made sure the 200 most popular apps will work correctly on the resolution.
