Yes. Along with some Canadian carriers and Telstra in Ozz..

The 900/2100Mhz frequency that 2Degrees and Vodafone use is by far the most common pairing worldwide, which is why there is much greater support for it.

900 is not as big as you may think. According to GSMArena in Europe the main 3G frequency in use is 2100 and the same applies to Asia.. South America also seems to have adopted the 850 3G band as well.

Yup. 2100Mhz is the big one supported in almost all of Asia and Europe.

Still, if you are on Telecom, you can use it on 2100Mhz

Slightly confused review, he calls the sibling phone the X5 when he is actually reviewing the X5. Also him and gsmarena disagree on screen res.

Looking at non-promo photos of the X5 I'll hold out for the X5, X5 looks too close to my U8150 (though that might be an easy way to sneak my purchase past the other half! :) )

what ? 8150 has a 2.8 screen with 500 mzh ish cpu, the x5 has 3.8" and 800mzh cpu..........big difference IMO. hehe

I think he has a typo on the screen res. I've never heard of a 400x380 screen res on a phone before. 320x480, and 240x320 are normal. 400x380 also doesn't conform to normal video standards http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vector_Video_Standards2.svg which would mean that they would run into huge issues with Android apps requiring certain resolutions to run.

He also talks about a clear a vibrant picture. which you wouldn't get with 400x380 on a 3.8" screen because the pixel size would be huge.

You'll find, once you lay your hands on one, that the X5 is a huge step up from the U8150 in terms of screen real estate and speed. The X5 had specs which compare favourably to the SE X10, the HTC Desire and the Galaxy S.

I can't image that 2Degrees would lock this phone (or any of their phones for that matter) None of the 3 mobile companies in NZ are locking phones at the moment. It would also go in completely the opposite direction of 2Degrees arguments to the Commerce Commission about freeing up the NZ mobile industry if they were to start introducing locked phones. Plus also 2Degrees don't have any contracts longer than a month, so there is no reason to lock them.

Indeed. The X6 is supposed to be the flagship model with a slightly faster processor (1Ghz vs 800Mhz), slightly larger screen (4.1" vs 3.8") and it looks like it will have an aluminium body in some of the photos.

You'll have to wait until after May for that one though, judging by the information on the net.

Sweet! I found a couple of pages before stating that the X5 would be released first followed by the X6, but if it is out now, then all the better.

It'll probably be more expensive here than just straight conversion. Which sux lol. The ferry/freight cost itself + GST so onshelf price for x6 is prob gonna be around 600.

I hope x5 is around 400-450 onshelf lol.

And lol @ cheery magnum , were they trying for "cherry" ? :D
