I found NZ Tides info app, pretty basic but did the job when I wanted to know when low tide was.

Julius Spencer (http://www.juliusspencer.co.nz/) has developed an App (Power Up) using the Powershop API for customers to monitor their power usage and top up their account, and Powershop has another one in development.

If someone could create an app for this gig guide it would be great
http://www.mukuna.co.nz/christchurch/index.htm
http://www.mukuna.co.nz/about.htm

possibly combine it with the event finder gig guide

I have contacted Mukuna.co.nz to see if they would be interested in exposing their gig information via an API. If so then I can definitely include it in NZ Events. In the meantime they do have a mobile site http://m.mukuna.co.nz that might be worth a visit.

Thanks
-Steven

Is there a public API for the Makuna?

Edit: Oops didn't refresh browser... :)

Hi, I've just downloaded Wellington Transit tonight. This looks like an excellent app. One question, though. When I open the app, it shows ALL recently searched bus stops (I tried a few different searches while I was getting used to using the app). I cannot see how to get rid of a searched bus stop once it is in the app? As I will only be using some stops once (and I have many test searches in there at the moment) I don't want to see all of these every time I open the app in the future. Is there any way to delete these?

You could just clear the app cache through the application manager in the phone settings. That might do what you want.

Thanks. The cache was empty - however, I have saved my regular routes in the app as favourites and these are now 'pegged' to the top of the screen above all others, so works ok for me now.

Sorry don't know how experienced you are with android so forgive me if I'm telling you how to suck eggs, but a long press on the offending routes may bring up a submenu allowing you to delete them.

Relatively new to android, so currently on steep learning curve. A long press on the route gives me a 'rename' option and a 'save as favourite' option, but no delete. However, the favourite option seems to have provided a workaround for me.

I would pay good money (up to $2 Laughing) for a sky tv app that lets me remote record programmes from the android....

I have heard that sky are a little protective of their EPG....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

scra039: Hi Tony,

I have written 3 NZ related apps for Android.

1) TradeDroid (TradeMe app that uses new TradeMe API)
2) NZ Events (uses eventfinder.co.nz API)
3) TraxIt (parcel tracking that uses nzpost API)

I would be very keen to hear your guys feedback and any features that you think are missing. Its good to see Android adoption is picking up speed in NZ.

Cheers
-Steven

Hi Steven, thanks for your efforts in the android apps, i just bought TradeDroid and am very impressed with the finish and polish of the app

some feedback tho, i notice that the image viewing part of the app seems to render photos oddly. when viewing a photo in a listing and clicking the icon to view the photo fullsize, the app "clips" the image on the left and right (if viewed in portrait mode), or clips top and bottom if viewed in landscape. it centers the image in a "too far zoomed in" sort of position and does not allow you to pan, or pinch to zoom out, or zoom in any way. is this by design, or a limitation of the code??
it would be great if the image simply zoomed to fit height and width of screen, and then maybe allowed a further zoomed in mode that was able to pan. its just frustrating not being able to view the item photos properly :)

also,  just for accessibilities sake, perhaps you could add an icon to the start page that took you straight to "My Trademe" for quick access to ones watchlist etc.... as opposed to going "menu>my trademe" - i know its only one extra step but people are lazy and there is alot of screen realestate for one more shortcut :)

anyway thats my feedback, would love to know your thoughts on the image/zoom thing

cheers
nige
