kiwitrc: As Johnr said ask clove for the IMEI number of the missing phone, be interesting to see it pop up on a local network.

You will always pay GST on courier.

I will email them and ask them, i suspect it was gone before it entered the Country but can always give it a go.

Keep us posted mate and good luck. Interesting to see how Clove handles this matter.

Update: Clove are going to be sending me a new phone either today or tomorrow (free of charge). I specified to use Royal Mail this time also. Clove even refunded me 10 Pound as the phone had dropped in price since I had bought it. Very happy with how it has all been handled and the customer service from them is right up there.

Oh and Clove also said this about IMEI numbers "I am afraid at present we do not store the IMEI numbers as they ship".

Thanks for all the comments guys. Hopefully should be playing with a Galaxy S II by next Tuesday!

Cheers,

I am not surprised to hear that Clove's service has been excellent, they are a really great firm (its because I held that opinion about them that I offered to blog for them, so I'm saying that as a very satisfied repeat customer, not because of any affiliation I have with them).

hihi, dream dream dream... (swypin' this reply from my lovely shiny blazing sgs II)

just to bring your hope up. i have had a blazing fast royal mail shipping from clove that took only 6 working days...

if it is stopped by custom, will take 2-3 days extra before it is being cleared (easier if you live in Auckland)

As a matter of interest, did you get your package stopped in customs using Royal Mail?

well, i have had 4 deliveries from clove using royal airmail (android is addictive)

only one got stopped by the custom and it is a pain to sort it out. the guy refused to do any CC transaction until i have  received letter from them that include the details of what i need to do. after 3 days, i rang again and spoke to a lady who happily take my CC details and passed it to nz post after clearance.

The company you use for shipping makes no difference. If the declared value of the goods is over $450 (incl freight) you'll have to pay GST. If the product is under this and has a duty attached to it you'll also have to pay this.

Ocasionally goods do slip through and I've had instances where I haven't paid GST. This is certainly the exception rather than the norm though.
