NZtechfreak, since you have used the 10.1V (very similar to the 10.1), would you go with it again over something like the Transformer?

I've not used the 10.1V, only the 10.1

I think the Transformer beats out the 10.1V, but not the 10.1, given the choice and financial availability I think its hard to pass up the 10.1

That said, given the relative price difference I think the Transformer is a very respectable choice. I won't actually have had hands on with the Transformer for at least 7 days yet, since its currently shipping to me, so I can't really be more definitive than that for the meantime.

Thanks mate. I didn't know you were getting the Transformer too! How exciting.

I had my heart set on the Transformer but kept waiting for the 3G version to come out. Now that the 10.1 is out, I am tempted to get that since it has 3G integrated. Not even sure if I need 3G!

Do both tablets support XT?

The transformer looks pretty cool, mostly because of the keyboard. Can't most android tablets have a keyboard attached though, either through wireless or USB? That sounds ideal for travel, no need to take a big computer or visit internet cafes to write emails.

Yeah - just noticed that myself, maybe it's something to do with Apple's #1,000,000,000th lawsuit against companies that make devices that "look & feel" the same as their iCrap Pad.

They need to get over themselves in my opinion - it's a natural part of design that tablets will "look & feel" the same, Apple have nothing better to do with their money than sue the competition.

Take this example for instance, the Samsung 10.1 is lighter & thinner & it has considerably faster 3G modem & superior camera & screen, faster CPU, compared to the the iPad 2, with it's smaller screen.

Personally, I think Apple are jealous that they are struggling to compete against manufacters like Samsung & it's use of Android OS.

Surely, there must come a time when Apple will stop this BS litigation & actually manufactor superior hardware.

Or have they given up on this & decided to legally knock the competition out of play?

Apparently the Apple "injuction" doesn't stop the Australian or NZ tablets, since they are different from the US ones in the lawsuit and are still incoming. So slightly delayed!

I couldn't wait though and got the Transformer, which should arrive Saturday morning or Monday according to the DHL stats

Mobicity is listing their 10.1 3g 16gb as in stock and ready to ship. A little pricey though.

Very pricey, a bit of a rip off at that price, considering Noel Leeming was listing the 32GB product for $1199.

$1150 i think it was. But mobicity are always pricier because they import the products. Still very tempting but I think ill wait a few more weeks to see what happens with a local release.

Just read the papers and Samsung NZ says the court order in Australia does not apply to NZ and stock will arrive by mid August. Good news!

Yeah, Australia are still getting them, but not on the 11th anymore, it's been slightly pushed back:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/apple-and-samsung-keep-tabs-on-australian-court-battle/story-e6frg6nf-1226106992148

The court order still only applies to the US versions, which Samsung said that Australia was never getting? however it might just be that Samsung are applying some subtle changes to them, to keep Apple happy

minimoke: May want to hold off on that purchase. In todays news: "Apple Australia is demanding Samsung send it its entire stock of Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets to be destroyed as part of a legal battle that could soon extend to Samsung's smartphone range.

To be destroyed? That seems awfully over-the-top! Well, it isn't affecting what's happening here in New Zealand, at least not for now.

I am deciding between this and the Asus Transformer. It's going to be a hard choice, especially when the Transformer gets 3G as well.

Apple is well over the top with that request, it won't happen. Besides, don't see why that legal action would have any bearing on a potential purchase of the Tab?

Well, they have copied Apple, which is what the lawsuit was about. If you read tyhe article it shows that Samsung sees merit in the case in Apples favour.
