I know someone who had an s2 in their pocket with a protector on and when they got out of the car the LCD broke, not the glass...

Best thing I did was take the protective cover off my SGS after reading this thread as it was 'hiding' one of the nicest features, that awesome slippery velvet touch.

I doubt a cover would protect it being smashed, and what is the point of protecting it unless you are trying to protect it for resale value.  Bit like having a nice car but never driving it or taking it out of the garage unless it gets scratched, just not worth having.

Only reason I use a case if for grip as I find the phone slippery.

I don't have any scratches on the screen but i noticed a few weeks ago that it looks like it split/cracked underneath.

It's hard to explain but you can only see it under certain lighting conditions but it has been getting longer/further across the screen.

Has anyone else had an issue with this at all?

dafman: I'm thinking of buying the S2, but can't bear the thought of that large beautiful screen getting scratched, so my natural inclination is to slap a screen protector on. They say gorilla glass is unscratchable, so I'm keen to get feedback for anyone with a S2 who hasn't used a screen protector. Is there anyone out there running around with a naked S2 screen? How's is it bearing up? How long have you used it without a screen protector?

My Ideos X5 is often in my poket amongst coins and keys and doesnt have a single scratch on the screen.

I would never use a screen protector for a disposable item like a phone unless it was totally undetectable.

I thought I did, but it turned out to be scratches on my screen protector, phew!

Somehow, they looked to be under the glass from certain angles, thank jimny for that too!

Got my S2 week 2 after they came out, imported from Spain, I'm a iron mine site electrician In AUS, it lives in either in a Casemate or Otterbox cover with screen protector (Otterbox) 24/7 depending on whether i'm at work or home (NZ) for 9 days, stays in my top pocket all day.

Not one scratch anywhere.

I've had my SGS for over a year now (SGS not SGSII).

I've had no screen protector on it and probably drop the phone a couple of times a month. I keep the SGS in my jeans pocket with my keys and I can't detect any scratches on the screen.

The battery cover is developing a crack in the corner... but considering the use I have had so far, I am pretty happy.
