lchiu7: no my ?point was that they just work and users don't have to deal with annoying issues like this.

Don't get wrong. I love Android and and I have a N1, Motorola Xoom and Asus Transormer but none of them is niggle free.

OTOH my wife never complains about her iPhone or the kids with their iPod touches.

Hopefully Ice Cream Sandwich sorts this stuff out. The gingerbread browser doesn't seen to suffer from these issues. It is almost like they are two completely different browsers.

Maybe all this stuff comes from the "rushed" honeycomb release. I get the feeling all android releases are going to be "rough and ready" compared with ios though.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

OT but which do you prefer? Xoom or Transformer?

I bought the Xoom because it was the Google reference HC tablet before Google bought Motorola Mobility This is the US one so I had to face the hassles of no microSD card support until 3.2. On the whole I like it. It's a bit heavy but the size is right and I can easily carry it around.

I bought the Transformer because my wife wanted a tablet, specifically an iPad. But I wasn't going to one of those and have to support it(!) so when in NL I saw the Toshiba for $649 and the Asus for $699. Having done some research on the two and playing with both I preferred the Asus because it was slimmer, had IPS in the screen and Gorilla glass. Plus I was able to persuade NL to match the Toshiba price.

They are both nice tablets. The Asus is larger but lighter and has a non standard keyboard where there are numbers on the standard keyboard. That can be useful. It also comes with some nice Asus apps like their network app which found music on my server and I could play it.

Plus while I haven't bought one, I did try the keyboard in DSE and that seemed like a nice accessory.

So it probably sounds like I am hedging here but I guess I could live with either.  The Motorola appeals to the geek in me since it is the HC reference tablet and therefore is going to probably get ICS first. But my wife really doesn't care about that stuff so long as she can surf the net, make phone calls using Fring and a BT headset (something I was never able to do on her iPhone) and get email. As time goes by I can load up new apps for her.

In conclusion I would say they are the better HC tablets. I did also try the Samsung and while it's slim and sleek I didn't like the port design.

The Xoom is really heavy, but smaller. Even the Transformer feels pretty heavy at times. If I was buying now the Galaxy 8.9 would be tempting. I originally wanted a 7in tablet but after trying one the screen is just a bit too small for me.

Good point. I had originally thought about getting a Nook and flashing it with a GB ROM but after playing with it found the screen just a bit too small.
