Disrespective:
cbdkid: Can I ask where you ordered your note from? Clove or Handtech?

Thanks!
Without sounding like an advertorial, nor someone who actually knows, I would think he bought it from Clove. Especially given that he writes for them and their blog. I'm certainly contemplating a purchase myself but finding it hard to justify it when I love my SGS2 so much.

Actually I got this one from Mobicity because I could get it sooner. I'd recommend getting it from Clove, their prices are better and they have stock now (or at least they did have stock).

Well, there you go then! Either way i particularly liked the 'pocketability' video. I wish more reviewers actually performed these every day type clips. Things like fitting in shirt/trouser pockets are a daily necessity, why not show it.

Cheers! Agreed, something people actually really need to know.

Mwoar stuff:

Incidentally, tried Splashtop after the video over 3G whilst out and about today - amazing! Watched a video with sound - playback was smooth. Hardly any lag via 3G in a reasonable coverage area. Also installed an antivirus to my laptop and did some other useful stuff while I was having a coffee at Bunnings - RDP on a 1280x800 screen is awesome.

Thanks for the reply!
Actually I think I might wait for your Galaxy Nexus review if you're still doing one.
They both look good, just can't decide between the two at the moment..

First signs of the Galaxy Note in NZ, although parallel imported:

A bit pricey!

Does the S-pen/stylus thingy work only with particular apps or is it essentially just a capacitive pen (with special some functions).

Particularly :D  does it work ok with the Graffiti handwriting app? I totally miss my old Palm III.

@tigercorp: it works with graffiti :) will be covering it later in the review... speaking of:

Next part of my review is up here, covers entertainment aspects (audio quality, music and video playback, the browser, gaming).

Part one, if anyone missed it is here, and covers Unboxing, Initial impressions, Design/build quality, Screen and Benchmarks.

Murray your link for the media playback needs to be tidied up :-) has a quotation mark at the end and some of the GZ link at the start.

wierd, the links corrupt on me, i just updated them. Probably need to close all the tabs!

The media review was great. Thats usually my focus on your handset reviews.. what formats/quality it can play.

Thanks Damager, glad you enjoyed it.

If media is your primary concern can't do better than the Note - are you thinking about getting one, or is the size too much for you to contemplate?

NZTechFreak, some users are reporting uneven screen lighting. If you display a completely white screen, you may see bands of bright and dark areas. Can you confirm whether this happens on your device? Thanks!
