Please forgive me if this has already been explained, but I am a little confused about the whole RUU.exe situation. I understand how to get the ROM.zip file, but I am confused about whether this file is for all models/brands of phones.
Can you use the system.img and boot.img files that you extract from this ROM.zip file for ANY phone make/model, or do you have to find the system.img and boot.img files specific to your phone make/model?
This is not a criticism about the guide at all, as I am really appreciative that you have taken the time to write this for us, but rather a genuine confusion about the RUU.exe aspect of it. I'm not all that keen to potentially brick my phone if I do it wrong. ;-)
I have a Huawei IDEOS X5 U8800 phone, and as such the bootloader on this phone is unlocked. This means I can get access to at least the boot.img stock file, and probably the stock system.img file. Would this work at all?

Ok, sorry for that post. I answered my own question really, and also didn't read the text version very well. I watched the HTC video and got confused thinking it applied to all devices. Duh. Concentration not at its best today. Don't mind me... carry on people, nothing to see here... ;-)
